A couple of buddies and myself purchased new EFS 1911's from Charles Daly.  We didn't want  to sink a  lot  in on  our first  1911  so  we went with the  CD.  We noticed  there is  a little bit of slide to frame play on all three, and they all have  trigger play that seems to be excessive (up and down).  They shoot better than expected, and have  all functioned w/o  fault.  Are these conditions normal for  the 1911 pistols? Also, what type of sight cut do they have?  We  are wanting to upgrade  to an  adj  sight  set.  What  do you recomend for this?  Thanks

Slide to frame fit is not a worry in low end service grade type 1911's, nor the excessive play in the trigger. After all it's a bargain basement gun. As to adjustable sights I wouldn't waste your money. The CD isn't worth that type of investment. Your fixed sights will serve you fine. Stick to 230gr fmj and enjoy.

It's not a target grade weapon, so the adjustable sights would be a little superfluous.  I'd just adjust the sights to point of aim at 25m and, like SGB said, enjoy.

I'm glad that it sounds like they're good pistols, as that is my next purchase, as soon as I get caught up on some bills.

Edited to add:  The 1911EFS example I've handled had what I would call a very nice frame/slide fit and trigger, especially for the price.  As long as it goes BANG every time, I'd be happy.

I don't know what cut is on the slide, for sights.  I don't have a problem with the sights that are on there, other than the front blade, puts off quite abit of glare.  I am just curious what the cut is so if I run across a good deal, I will know.  I shot the CD today again, and also shot a Kimber (I don't remember the model number, but it was one of there entry level pistols).  I thought everything Kimber made was awesome fit and function.  Not so, this one was quite shoddy on finish, and slide to frame play was equal to my CD.  it did seem to cycle a bit smoother.  They seemed to shoot consistant with one another at 25 yards.  Oh well, maybe I should have spent my savings on a Springfield and forgot about it.  I do want to say CD has some of the best service I have dealt with in the idustry, very professional and acomadating.

It's good to see CD guns getting decent reviews. I have had one for almost two years and bought like you, my entry-level 1911. I enjopy the CD as well, I have only one problem with it and that was with the rear sight. That was a 10 dollar fix. Enjoy your new toy.
