I am looking into purchasing a double stack .45 pistol soon. I already have a 1911, but am wanting to find something with more capacity. right now all ive looked at is a glock 21. I like the way glocks look, but im not concerned about that lol. a couple things im looking for are...
*ability to shoot +P ammunition (230gr. hollow points) *a double stack .45 acp design *good accuracy. at least 3" @ 25yds when I do my part. im looking for full size pistols. I dont like the "commander" size and smaller pistols. glock and sig have been suggested to me. can you guys give me suggestions as well as a short rundown of the pros and cons of each pistol brand? ETA: can you also provide an approx. price for the pistol you suggest? (if multiple pistols are about the same in performance, then this could be a factor I consider) |

So get a double stack 1911. Your brain won't have to relearn anything. IMHO, get a Glock and you will totally have to retrain. I'm not knocking Glocks it's just the way it is. suggestions on a double stack 1911? |

STI (price: ~$1000+) there are other brands that make double stacked 1911s, like para and springfield, but i would NOT consider em FWIW: i would NOT consider a double stacked 1911 in general...they all pretty much lack in the reliability dept––most of the time its mag related stick to single stacks for 1911s if not, opt for something else; the HK45/USP 45f might be a better option (price: ~$700-800+) if you want 1911 like controls i WOULD opt for the G21(SF)/G30(SF) myself (price~$500+)...imo "retraining" is not necessary or a huge factor ––YMMV other considerations i would opt for: SW (such as the 4506, etc) all metal line; price: ~$400 SW MP (~$500) other considerations in general: SA XD 45 (~$500) Sig, Ruger (IIRC) and beretta do not have a double stacked .45acp; taurus makes some double stacked, but i would not opt for em |

Lessee here... Your checklist fits the XD45 to a tee!
ability to shoot +P ammunition (230gr. hollow points) XD45 FTW! a double stack .45 acp design XD45 FTW!* good accuracy. at least 3" @ 25yds when I do my part. XD45 FTW! im looking for full size pistols. I dont like the "commander" size and smaller pistols. XD45 FTW! They come in 4" or 5" barrels. 13+1 rounds. ETA Everyone who prefers the XD to the Glock says that one important reason is that the XD "points better." |

thanks all for the suggestions. ive done a lot of looking at the pistols suggested and have narrowed it down to 2 pistols...
the glock 21/21sf or the HK. the price of the STI pistols are just waaaaayy more than im willing to pay at the moment. Im pretty sure the glock will win out as it is a couple hundred less than the HK. |
