Personally I use a good degreaser, like Parts Cleaner from Autozone, to make sure I get all of the storage oil off of the gun before I shoot it. If it is a new Glock you will see a copper colored grease on the slide rails, leave that there for the break in. Once you get all of the storage oil off put some CLP on it and go pop off 500 rounds.
Congrats on your purchase. I own a Glock 17 myself and it has performed flawlessly. Oh yeah, as far as that copper colored grease is concerned it is an anti seize lubricant. It is from Loctite and I think its code is C5A or something like that. |
