GoodEvening Gentlemen! finally picked up my first handgun yess a GLOCK19 .. after doing some research and looking into a couple of choices, made my way to a shop.. Held a few, then "The Glock" was next! Just felt right!  ok so here's my question being its my first handgun.

*New gun rule - Always Strip, clean and lube now can I use the same stuff I use on my AR "breakfree CSP" or is something better for handguns?

*Also Only a short wire brush came w/the box.. what else do I need? some kinda kit?

Good choice

1) CLP is fine, remember it doesn't need much oil.

2) All you really need after the included "kit" is a rag and some patches. I'm picky though and scrub it with an oily toothbrush first before I wipe it down and oil it with a q-tip.

Slip 2000 oil and cleaners are extreemly good products. Breakfree burns off pretty fast. Slip stays wet much longer.

Boresnake.  CLP is good, although I always liked some good old fashioned Hoppes myself.  Mags and ammo!  Congrats on the purchase.

I hate cleaning handgun barrels. Ever since I got a Boresnake, I don't hate it anymore. I use CLP, though I'm sure there are better options.

Personally I use a good degreaser, like Parts Cleaner from Autozone, to make sure I get all of the storage oil off of the gun before I shoot it. If it is a new Glock you will see a copper colored grease on the slide rails, leave that there for the break in. Once you get all of the storage oil off put some CLP on it and go pop off 500 rounds.

Congrats on your purchase. I own a Glock 17 myself and it has performed flawlessly. Oh yeah, as far as that copper colored grease is concerned it is an anti seize lubricant. It is from Loctite and I think its code is C5A or something like that.
