I know how you guys love this which should I buy so:

should I get a S&W M&P .40, and a seperate .22 pistol (most likely a used ruger or buckmark)

or should I get a glock 23 with a .22 conversion kit?

Yes I LOVE .40, and dont want a 9mm or .45. I currently own a steyr S40, but it jams every 2-300 rounds, which is not good enough for me for CCW. the .22 is for practice as well as economics.

which platform do you prefer? glock or MP?

i'd base my decision on that 1st...personally, i'd opt for the glock and a .22lr Ruger

Anytime I can convince myself to buy 2 pistols, I do. Since I own both an M&P and a Ruger/Buckmark, I can urge you to go for it.

I like the feel and size of the MP better. but then again you cant argue with the accessories and parts availability of a glock.

Go with the glock 23 w/ conversion.  Doesnt matter which caliber you practice w/, but since it is basicaly the same gun you build muscle memory.

it will depend on what you want to do with them.

if you get the m&P you will have 2 separate guns and no need to strip to shoot 22s.  however the 22 wont be the same.

if you get the G and conversion, it would be like practicing with the same gun.

however, if you want to shoot cheaply, then i think you will be dumping less $$ on the M&P and used 22s route.

again, it all depends on what your intentions are.

edit;

w/re to yor styer,  have you had a smith look at it?  have you tried diferent ammo?   if you dont want it, trade/sell it for something else.

yeh it went back to steyr twice. either my mags are all bad, or something is wrong with the way the magazine sits in the grip. every blue moon it will jam the nose of the round into the magazine lip. other than that its perfect, except no .22 conversion.
