If I was able to obtain one and it was a bit used could I send it to Colt to refurbish it ?

Yes, they'll still service the Python.

Colt still does excellent work on the Python and can refinish it to look like new.

If you send the gun in, Colt will send you an estimate of the work to be done, the cost, and how long it'll take.

Most standard repairs and re-blues are averaging around 30 days.

I recently had one refinished and tightened up and it cost 300. Excellent job.

I was very unhappy with their work on my Detective special.

Sent it in for a barrel adjustment (their dime) and a refinish on mine, and asked them to set it to the lowest factory settings. The weapon was returned with the barrel all canted (did not do the work right), the refinish had rust spots on it, and the factory settings were ignored. all this and they sat on it 2-3 months because they were waiting for my payment to come in (only I paid up front). I called to see if they received it when I sent it in a second time and they had the re-refinish and factory settings on the list, but NO mention of the barrel adjustment (thank God I called) or it would have been a 3rd time. The weapon was returned with rust spots in the yoke and the sight track.

If I were paying, it would be going to cylinder & slide, or one of the few people left who work on DAs.
