I am looking for a compact 9mm pistol for CC. No I dont want a .45, or a .380. |
|
Take a look at the CZ 75 Compact and the CZ P-01. The 75C has a safety, can be carried cocked and locked or hammer down, DA/SA. The P-01 is decocker only, so it has to be carried hammer down, DA/SA. I would also recommened the CZ 83/82 style pistol, which is what I frequently carry, but they are not 9mm. Between the two models, you could have it in .32ACP, .380 ACP, or 9x18 Mak. |

Thanks for all the input. I went and test fired the Glock and the Kahr today. Didnt like the feel. Also tested a Bersa Thunder 9. That felt good. Tried a Kel-Tec P11 & a PF-9, they felt like toys, even though they are the smallest. I am leaning toward the Bersa. Any oppinions on those? |
Have you tried the S&W M&P yet? If it doesn't feel quite right have the clerk change the grip inserts (included) to a bigger or smaller size. Smith is also givibg a coupon for 2 free mags and $50 back! |

Apparently people's opinion of "compact" varies. If the Bersa is small enough for you and you don't like Glocks or Kahrs, look at the Sig P6 (P225). There are great deals to be had right now and the quality is much better than Bersa. Personally, I carry a Glock 19 or 26 or Kahr PM9, but hey, not everyone recognizes perfection when they see it |
I saw these on Centerfisystems.com for $269.99. They are on back order. ETA: AIM Surplus (a sponsor) has 'em for $259.95 |
This is good advice too. The S&W autos are often available at good deals and are underated. The 39xx and 69xx series are good choices for CCW. |

Are you looking at the Bersa Thunder 9 or the Thunder Ultra-Compact 9? I have shot the Thunder Ultra-Compact and I was not impressed. It has a heavy double action trigger, an OK single action trigger and every time you use the safety, it decocks it back to double action. From the wear that is visable on the aluminum frame after about 100 rounds, I doubt that it will last much past 1k. My buddy got it for around $250 if I remember correctly. A 13 round capacity mag, crappy trigger and sights and aluminum frame. Here is a forum with lots of info on Bersas bersatalk.com/ Gringop |
Test fire was and is a good idea. Since you didn't like the feel of the glock I'll have to change my original answer. If you have the $$$ I'd say try to find a 9mm 1911 (Springfield, Kimber, Para, etc...). I don't know anyone with a Bersa. |
CZ P01 with crimson trave grips must be a really good gun for CCW. |
