Okay so I've been trying to decide which handgun to buy. I've narrowed it down to the Springfield XD .45, or the Px4 .45cal. Looking for suggestions opinions and anything else that could help me decide. I'm also open to other suggestions. thanks guys |

tough call on both i havent shot the px4 in .45acp (just .40sw and 9mm), but it seems to be a great little platform i might have to go w/ the SA, at least thier CS is great as far as i can tell (dont know about berettas'), you can get mags and gear for cheaper and easier h/w, the px4 imo has the better trigger and ergos |
| Thanks for the input, I've been receiving about 50/50 argument for px4 and the XD. The XD has some nice saftey features, and is pretty damn durable from what ive heard. The px4 is pretty accurate and has the rotating barrel which helps recoil, but also can be the cause of some problems ive heard. The Px4 looks a lot better, and feels pretty good in my hands, still a few weeks before i go pick one up so still got some time to decide. |

I have two XD45s. Service and compact. For me they are the best 45s to shoot that I have ever tried. The triggers stack up nice and break cleanly. Great sights, Great ergonomics too. I can reach everything without shifting my grip around like I had to when I tried a Glock. My two year old service 45 has something past 1200 rounds now. Flawless operation. My new compact is just broken in. Couple hundred rounds. But it has the same perfect feel the big one has. There's just nothing bad I can say about my XDs. They just plain work great for me. YMMV of course. The compact is great because the shorter handle is perfect for CC use. And you can always put a full size mag with adapter sleeve on it for plinking or for a reload in a bad situation. Had they sold the compact two years ago I'd have just gotten it. But I have gotten to like the full size so much I couldn't trade it in. It's just too good to ever get rid of. If Glocks fit me better, I'd probably own those too. But I have small hands. The XD was just right for me. Edit to add: There's many good accessories out there now for them too. Mag deals are common now too. I recently got XD45 mags at a gunshow for just $15 each and they threw in some free mag sleeves to use in the compact! Much better situation than two years ago! |

Having no experience with the PX4, I can't comment on that. I do own a standard service length XD45 and really like it for all of the reasons mentioned above. It also shoots hard cast bullets with aplomb. And, a Glock tac light ($100) fits on it like it was made for this pistol. Out of the many pistols that I own, this is my nightstand pistol if that tells you anything. |
