I bought a SA XD 9mm Service model at Cabelas 2 weeks ago, I should have gone with the SC9, will cabelas take a return on a firearm?
They have 100% satisfaction guarantee...

Having not worked at Cabelas but at a private gun shop, I would say they will take it back at loss to you. Satisfaction guaranteed does not include customer is fickle and I want the store to take a dump because customer does not know how to make decisions.

Just buy the sub-compact and have both.

just like a vehicle as soon as it is out of the lot its considered used.

Call them and ask them or take it in and ask them.

I would be positive and stress that you would prefer to SC9 and see what they will come up with.

Let us know what happens and with what particular Cabelas you dealt with.

At a loss to you probably. Personally I'd keep what ya got and save up and get the sub compact. Of course if that is not possible then go for it, worth a shot I guess.

I dont mind if I take a loss, I just dont want something like a $300 loss if I would trade it in at a local gun shop...

I took my CCW class yesterday and the shop there offered me $225 for a trade in

Not suprising. Don't expect them to offer much, they are going to lowball the hell out of you. I doubt they'll exchange it for you, they will probably do much the same thing that shop did.

You will probably be better off selling it for a smaller loss private party then taking the funds and using it to get the other.

if you haven't shot it i don't see why they wouldn't take it back

there is always the EE

1st, cabelas will more than likely NOT trade it straight for a SC; i'm pretty sure the 100% saftisfaction does not cover, "buying the wrong model"

2nd, dont expect an all too much on trading it in w/ anyone, unless its a private trade

next, it would be best to sell either on the new (EE), gun show, or a fair dealer

lastly, i'd second the idea of just saving up and getting the SC later on and keeping the service for now

I'd call Cabela's   was in the local one here and a guy had bought a pistol   took it home  played with it  decided he wanted the compact version  came back and they took it back and exchanged it at full value for the compact he then took that home decided he wanted the full size and brought the compact home.  I was there when they were doing the paper work on the second exchange.  Guy behind the counter told me about it  said they have a satisfaction policy.  overheard manager ask "now your sure this is the one you want?"

On of the locals here bought a Kahr from the Glendale Cabela's.  Jam-o-matic, wouldn't go through a single mag without some type of failure.  Cabela's took it back no hassle.

We were quite surprised.

Well, I went to Cabelas this morning to see what they would do... the gun libary offered me $350 for it.... ok.

I check out the XD sub 9 and the S&W compact 9, I went with the S&W which was $530 (XD was $500). While I was the counter getting rung up the register went down, managers, IT's and everyone else was trying to get the thing to work.

Finally after about 45 minutes in-line, the computer was back up and running, the dept manager rang me up and said "$67 is the difference" cool beans... thank you.

 What a great store

  Bri

P.s. there is more to the story of why I didnt want the XD, I had a jam during a timed  CCW test and it wasnt good at all.

Funny, there were so many uninformed telling you that you would get raped by taking it back…

One Plus for the big box stores is that they don't operate like a a real business rather than a grumpy old gun store…

On the downside, they hurt a 'good' single owner store who cannot compete with them…

Glad it worked to your satisfaction!
