I have one of the newer Bulldogs in stainless.  It won't win any beauty contest with a S&W, but it goes bang every time I pull the trigger.

Gun Tests magazine (for whatever it is worth, which may be nothing) reviewed a Charter Arms "Undercover" .38 revolver and said that it would bind up in double action and be completely out of action.

I don't follow "Gun Tests" enough to know if they are full of s**t or not, but if this is even remotely true than it doesn't look good for Charter Arms products.

Charter Arms and Hi-Point have the same parent company.

I am working on my second .44 Spl Bulldog, but both are the old 3" model. I love them. I think they are the most bang for the buck in the firearm world.

And that guy that says Hi Point (ugly boat anchor) and Charter (minimalist perfection) are owned by the same company is probably full of crap. Make him prove it! With .pdf copies of paperwork and scans of REAL documents!

MKS (Hi-Point) refers to both Charter Arms and Chaparral Arms as Partner Companies.

MKS distributes Charter Arms but does not manufacture them.

I wouldn't let this "relationship" stop me from buying a Charter revolver.

My uncle has a CA .38 that works like a charm and he can hide in a boot if necessary.

I'd like to know about the new .22 revolvers.

Every time a question is posted asking about C.A., somebody mentions a gun they bought 30 years ago.
I've read of very few people that have bought new guns, and are happy with them.

If the new guns are selling, and the owners like them, they sure are keeping it to themselves.

I got to handle I think 5 Bulldogs at the last show, 2 blued, 3 SS.  The finish is functional, if not outstanding, but then again, I really don't like shinny guns.  Lock up seemed a touch loose, more like a Taurus than a Smith or a Dan Wesson.

Triggers were grungy, but ALL triggers are grungy until you take things home and give them a proper cleaning.

I'll probably pick one up at the next show.  I've wanted a 5-shot big bore snub for a while.

My uncle has an older one, belonged to his father/my grandad.
Works well enough I guess, but not as nice as a comparable Smith or Colt.
They do exactly what they were designed to do - work well and be cheap enough to be attractive to the non-gun guy who needed a gun.

I have no experience with the new CA.

I bought a new one about five years ago and am very happy with it.  Its not very pretty but i have had no problems with it.  I could of purchased two of them for what my sister got her lady smith for.  I used to carry it daily but several years ago it became my car gun. You got to love stainless steal.  Ya its not a smith but i know I can trust it and have on many occasions.

I've had a bulldog 44 special for three years and went through about 9 boxes 450rds. Not one hiccup.
