I have decided that I really want to get a wheel gun to add to my collection. Right now I am pretty set on a SP101 with the shrouded hammer (if that is the correct term?).

Your mission if you choose to accept it is post up pics of the SP101 or other similar wheel guns. I am knew to the world of wheel guns so maybe there is something better out there for me then the Ruger.

The main purpose for this wheel gun will be for pocket carry when my XDs can't come with. So let's see what you got.

Is that laser etched or something? That's pretty slick.

No its just a sticker I had left over from the last bunch I ordered.

I have some CT lasergrips on the way so I think I'll have to remove it

My understanding is that a "shrouded" hammer is a gun with a hammer you can manipulate for single action, but it has those walls/ears on either side so the spur doesn't catch (S&W "bodyguard" style J-frames). What you are talking about is either a "concealed" hammer (S&W "centennial" style J-frames... already pictured) or a bobbed/flush hammer like the SP 101. I don't have any pictures handy that haven't been posted, but Taurus makes some cantidates, and perhaps Rossi as well.

The hierarchy IMO is

Smith

Ruger

Taurus.

That is a damn fine wheel gun. Around $550 without the port is pretty reasonable too. Might have to add it to the candidate list.

Well in the spirit of July 4th, I picked up a wheel gun. I ended up going with a S&W 442 38 SPL.

I am at work right now, but I will post up pictures ASAP.

In the meantime, does anyone know a good place to have the trigger lightened on this beast? It must be 20lbs!
