I have seen a lot of these around locally in the last month and have considered picking one up. The ergonomics are great, I know Steyr makes quality stuff, and the prices on them are quite low. The sights are a little weird, but something I could get used to. I had a few questions on them though:

1. Can you attach a Streamlight M3/M6 to one them them? It looks like it has some sort of a rail, but it is not all the way across the front, like in an HK USP or the XD40 by Springfield. I could not tell if the two notches were actually a rail or some sort of cosmetic thing.

2. Do you need an adapter to put a light on the gun? If so, where can you get one of those?

3. Where is a good place to find spare mags?

Thanks for the help.

I'll be interested to hear what you find out, since I just got home with my new Steyr M40 last night.  Hopefully the weather will break and I can run a few dozen rounds through it this weekend.  I points and dry-fires like a dream!   After a session in the basement practicing the Applegate-Fairburn point-shooting dance routine, I could tell that the Steyr seemed to compensate beautifully for my tendency to aim my wrist too low, as I tend to do with the Taurus PT-145 that I have been practicing with for over a year now.  Much better ergonomics, and no long, gritty double-action trigger pull.  Unfortunately, not a bit slimmer package than the Taurus in .45, so it will be a toss-up in comfort for IWB carry.

So far, I like it, but I hope the impression is even more positive after I get to shoot it!  Couldn't resist the 299 price at CDNN.  My next will probably be an S model with night sights for around $420.
