I have a Colt .38 Cobra snub nose that is on the old side but in 98% condition. Is it ok to shot +p loads?

I wouldnt. Why beat up a nice gun.

A box or two per year won't hurt the gun if it's in the shape you describe. Keep an eye on the cylinder yoke symptoms & you should be fine, IMO.
