So I was at the pawn shop today poking around and came across a nice looking full sized Witness in .45. Could have been stainless, but maybe that 'wonder' finish. Anyway it was $299, but the thing is the slide had side-to-side play in it. It was like a movie sound effect: the gun made that little rattling sound. New one on me. Is that normal? |

I don't have one, but a friend bought one and liked it so much he bought another. Neither of them had any noticeable side-to-side "play" in the slide. I wouldn't touch it. ETA: If you find one that's nice and tight, they're damned good guns. Both of his fed any kind of .45acp, from ball to HP. |

the one i have i bought NIB. it probably has ~ 1000 rounds thru it at the most and it doesnt have alot of STS play in the slide. if you can i would take it apart and look at the rails for any evindence of wear. if there isnt alot of wear, then most likely shot alot or no PM. you could always get it for a plinker too. |
Que? < $299 new? Thanks for the replys. I really like the looks of the all steel full sized Witness and this one was very clean looking, but as soon as I picked it up I could hear it. I didn't think that was normal, but I had never handled a Witness either. |
