I'm seriously considering a Springfield XD Subcompact for me and my girlfriend. I like the package deal with the light, holster and mag holster. Is this subcompact model ideal for a lady also? What are your thoughts on it in general? How does it compare to the Glock 19 in general terms. Which one would you recommend? |

The Xd Sub is WAY smaller than the Glock 19 Grips are different. Glock has no safety, XD has a Slides could pass off as the same, but the XD has both a loaded chamber indicator and cocking indicator. If you're using it to target shoot, then I would recommend the Glock. If you were using it to CCW, I would still recommend the Glock. I dont like pistol lights, in favor of a good flashlight. |

I was in the exact same position as you about 2 years ago and I thought I wanted the XD. I shot the XD and it was a decent shooting pistol, I wasn't extremely happy with the way it felt in my hand but I figured it was something I would get used to. Then while I was at the same gun shop where I was going to buy the XD and where I shot the XD a guy in the lane next to me had a G19 and I asked him if I could try it out. Pretty much after the first round fired I knew that I had to have this gun. It was so much more comfortable to me than the XD and I shot the tightest group ever with that G19. A little while later I had myself a G19 and I couldn't be happier. In my opinion and actually many many others the G19 is the best all around handgun out there. Either one is a very good firearm but I beleive the G19 beats it everytime. |

I have pondered this question too[though the subcompact xd comares more directly to the smaller Glock than the 19] and I was close to buying the Glock 19 before the xd became popular.I shot both a 4 and 5 inch xd-9 and for me it was much better than the Glock. It pointed much more naturally for me and the trigger felt much better.Cost is a little cheaper for the xd but I think accessories are more available for the Glock and hence probably cheaper so its likely a wash.I haven't gotten it done yet but I will be buying the 4 inch xd-9 eventually.I am not a Glock fan but they are VERY popular and would not be so if they were not an excellent firearm. Shoot both and buy what you like,I would not buy the sub-compact of either as a first gun for a novice shooter though, stick with the medium sized and it will be much easier to shoot. |
Absofreekinlutly I carry the 27, 40sw, but I like smaller frames, and bigger caliber. The 19 is by far the BEST universal CCW though. |
