He didn't carry the last couple of years of his life, just too frail, and it was no longer one of his priorities. He bought the Colt in 1962 from his brother in law. Interestingly, his brother in law carried this gun in Chicago in the 1920's and 1930's. One day he was shooting this very gun at a members only gun range, looked to his left, and saw Al Capone and some cronies doing a little pistol practice of their own. Immediately went back to minding his own business. Interesting times in 1920s Chicago........ |

Almost two years later, January 1943.
Prime examples laid side by side (Colt's, Rand, Ithaca, Switch) show a dramatic and surprising difference as each company used a different park color. Its much harder to detect on worn pistols.

Against all odds after 1,202 months apart, long term observant habits developed, this defied all probability.
You have no right to expect original/matching parts or expect very similar high condition, to have the right barrels and stocks, you know how most have something changed by now.... One purchased in 2009, slightly nicer than the recent pistol found in October 2017.
