Should we start timer from when the post was started to when the "Glock rules over everything" people come in?

For me it was a toss up between the 1911 and the SIG.

ETA:  No hard feelings Glock guys.

I dont care which one wins, I'm comfortable with my choice.    Just curious as to how it will go.   I figure it will be a toss up between the glock and 1911 for first then sig then bhp then S&W.

Of course that's just a prediction.

Same for me, but the single action trigger won me over.

Must.....stop ......looking.......at .........sweet assed.........Springfield Loaded............
Looking to be getting a .45 in the near future and its between an HK USPf, SIG 220, or that 1911.  Decisions, decisions, and the more I look at that picture the more I want to become part of the JMB cult.

Alot of people like Glock and alot of people like 1911s. Why the hate? I never understood that.

I like em both, main reason I carry a glock is weight.  It's lighter than my 1911 and holds 8 more rounds.  A good 1911 is a magical thing.  Glocks are utilitarian but still a magical thing.  It's black, plastic, and works.  Good 1911's, blue, steel, and works.  Not that hard.

Of course a nice 1911 would win the beauty contest but that really dosen't matter in a carry gun to me. I like the simplicity of Glock. That Springfield is a really nice looking handgun. Add an accessory rail and ditch the novacs and it would be perfect.

No hate here, believe me.  It seems rare we have a handgun topic that doesnt turn into "mine is the best, yours sucks" though.

Exactly.  I have no problem with Glocks or anything else for that matter.  But I find it ridiculous that often times a thread will be started with specific wants/needs/requirements/dislikes etc. and everybody ignores that.  When somebody says they specifically do not want or like a certain gun for whatever reason and people disregard that and tell them to buy it anyway, its counter-productive, and doesnt help anybody.

BTW:  I'm going to go edit my original post as to not start another pissing contest.

Well I've had or still have at least one of almost every choice you listed but haven't found any of them to be perfect.

Is this a "dooms day" question were I would have to keep this weapon (and no others) for the rest of my life with little or no way to fix any major problems\rebuild it? If so, I would probably choose the Glock.

BTW - Not that I would have chosen it but I think some people would like an "HK" option?

I own everyone of them except a Glock,(which I 've shot many times). I like all of them!
That is why I own many different handguns.  The joy of owning and shooting all these makes for an enjoyable time at the range. People keep asking, "If you had to sell all but  one, which would it be?  That is too hard for me to answer!  I hope it never comes to that!!!

Ahh there's the noob shooter

You can always spot a noobie when they tell you they've never seen ( insert gun name here ) malfunction.   If you've been shooting long enough you'll at least one of everything malf sooner or later.

I would disagree! I think that John Browning's inventions rule over everything, ie.  the 1911 and BHP pistols.  I'm sitting here with my S.A. 1911 and BHP in front of me as I write this! To me , just the best!!

I'd have to say to have to choose only one pistol, I'd pick a Glock 20 10mm due to cartidge aspects and capacity.

i just noticed, NO HK, why not

i cant picture anyone taking a SW over an HK........

Because until relatively recently HK was not very common.   They've only really taken off here in the US in the last few years.    The P7 was never a very common gun, it's not really until the USP that they were a common find in gunshops.    S&W on the other hand has been a solid seller for many years and frankly I ran out of poll options.   I'm sure somebody would like to see XDs and CZs too.

Besides, who needs more than one plastic gun per poll....

assuming I can choose the brand/model I voted 1911.  I like all the options, but 45ACP is my favorite caliber and the 1911 style and controls are what I love, know and fit me.
