Saw my first Coonan Arms 1911 today at the range, .357mag. This guy was shooting reloads & had a helluva muzzle flash! He must've been shooting hot loads as well as I never saw the slide move at all. I bet he beats the hell out of his frame before long? His accuracy was so-so, IMO. I don't know how hard he was trying, but he was getting 6" groups at about 10 yards or so. |

Coonans are rare guns. I live in WI but work in the MN Twin Cities area and I see Coonans pop up from time to time in MN gun shops and shows, because the guns were made in MN. Some people like them, others do not. My friend's Dad had one, he liked it and said it shot pretty good and did not jam (many people say they were prone to jamming) He sold the Coonan because of a divorce. |

I've owned two Coonan Model Bs and hated to get rid of them. Mine were quite accurate and never ever malfunction. They would even feed an empty .38 SPL case from the magazine. One went away on a trade for a Browning 1886 carbine and other sold last month for some lawyer fees. Guns would generally fit most 1911 hosters (longer dust cover than 1911). Was planning on buying one in .41 Mag when Coonan Arms closed their doors. CD |
