so i walk into bilo with my CCW on.  this store IS NOT placarded- nothing to even indicate that i shouldn't have a weapon.  anyway, i walk in through the shoplifting detector and it beeps- i just kept walking like i knew what i was doing and nobody said anything.  it did the same thing on the way out- and i pulled the same maneuver, successfully.

so can those things be set in such a way that a CCW sets one off?  or was that a metal detector?

also- i carried my keltec p-11 in there last week with no trouble, no beeping.  it rang with my sig 226 on- a pretty large hunk of metal.  so what's the deal?  thanks.

This has come up in the past.  The last time the member had a new holster that still had the adhesive RFID sensor on the back of the holster.  he found it and removed it - problem solved.

Check your holsters.

RFID  tags are those little white plastic stick on things you find inside CD cases and the like. They are about an 1 1/2" long and about 1/2" wide and mabey an 1/8 " thick or so.  If there was one on your holster I doubt you'd miss it.

You wheren't wearing new shoes where you? I work in retail and you wouldnt believe the number of false alarms we get with our door sensor equipment. there not really false, they just pick up ANY RFID/magnetic strip tag on anything. Alot of shoe manufactures have started installing the tags into the soles of shoes to prevent theft, which are supposed to be disabled by the cashier when you check out. Alot get missed...

More then likely , had nothing to do with your CCW..

everything else i was wearing was several years old, so i doubt it.  i'll check through my jacket to make sure.

I go in and out of 3 local BiLos carrying and have never set off an alarm.
I agree with the others.

You're packing an ID tag somewhere.

The good news is, they aren't using metal detectors.

agreed.  My GF bought a new Coach purse, and it took us about a weekend of mall going to find the little tag stuffed way inside one of the pockets of the purse...
