In a similar vein to the pics that Treetop is always posting of his AR collection, here's a pic of part of my handgun collection.![]() Now here's the contest part: The person who can identify the most guns in the picture above, by midnight Monday (8/19), will win some sort of firearm or computer accessory (I'm cleaning out my office). I guarantee the value of said item will be greater than $1 and less than $500 You can post your guesses here or email them to me at [email protected]. It's not the greatest picture in the world, but there's a larger version (~ 500k) at www.martynmotors.com/private/big.jpg for those of you that want to download it and blow it up. Details count, and I'll give bonus points for the more detailed description. In the event of a tie, the time stamp on the post or email will be the tie-breaker. Descision of the judge (me) is final. No warranty is expressed or implied, no purchase necessary, void where prohibited, etc., etc., etc. This is for fun and to drum up traffic on the hanguns board. |

First column Starting at the top left... 1. 1911 Limited Type IPSC Gun - Bomar Rear Sight - From the look of the recoil guide rod plug it has a full length guide rod 2. Para Ordnance LDA - Appears to have a Ed Brown type "Memory" Grip Safety - Arched Mainspring Housing - Factory Sights 3. Springfield P9 4. 1911 - Seems to be high cap, but not a Para, STI or SVI - Maybe a Caspian or ??? 2nd Column from Left, Starting at Top 1. Smith 66 4" - Still has original Hammer Spur - Adjustable Sights - May have wide trigger shoe - Hogue "Pro" Grips 2. Smith & Wesson 19 Combat Magnum 3. Ruger Redhawk 7.5" 4. Smith 66 4" - Still has original Hammer Spur - Adjustable Sights - May have wide trigger shoe - Hogue "Pro" Grips Column 1 from Right, Starting at Top 1. 1911 Commander Sized Slide - Custom Carry Configuration - Novak or MMC low mount rear sight 2. 1911 - Strange lower, shape of trigger guard and unusual hinged trigger. Seems like I have seen something like this before, it's not a Para or a Colt Double Eagle... hmmm... 3. Beretta 92FS 4. CZ-75 Column 2 from Right, Starting at Top 1. Smith 637 Airweight 2. Starting with the top row and going from left to right on the screen: Top Row: 1. 1911 w/ 5" barrel and Novak or Bomar rear sights, w/ Wilson 8 rd mag 2. Smith and Wesson Model 66 Stainless .357 magnum w/ 4" barrel and grooved rubber grips (Hogue?) 3. Kel-Tec P11 9mm 4. Smith and Wesson 2" barrel titatium type 22 caliber revolver (man, that is wild looking! Not at all sure about this one!) 5. 1911 w/ Commander style slide (not a full 5" barrel) with what appears to be a two-tone finish possibly. 2nd row: 1. 1911 with 5" barrel, factory sights and also has a Wilson 8 rd. mag inserted 2. Smith and Wesson Model 27 .357 magnum blue, w/ 6" barrel 3. Makarov 9x18mm 4. 1911 with 5" barrel and Novak or Bomar rear sights 3rd row: 1. CZ-75 2. Smith and Wesson Model 29 stainless .44 magnum w/ 8 3/8" barrel 3. Smith and Wesson Model 19 .357 magnum blue w/ 2 1/2" barrel 4. Beretta model 92/96 9mm or .40 cal (since they are the same size, no way to distinguish in the pic) Bottom row: 1. Wow! That is hard to see but looks like a Llama Duo Tone Small/compact frame w/ satin chrome frame and blue slide. If it isn't that one, it sorta looks like a Smith and Wesson Model 39 with nickel/blue set-up. But I will stay with the Llama for now. 2. Smith and Wesson Model 29 stainless .44 magnum with 4" barrel and grooved rubber combat grips (again Hogue, Uncle Mike's, etc) 3. Ruger MK II .22 cal with 5 1/2" bull barrel and target grips. I would have said a 22/45 if it had the Zytel grips on it! 4. Star M45 .45 ACP with 3.6" barrel 5. CZ-75 I hope I am right and win $499 worth of Glock and Sig hi-capacity mags! Lol, I wanna win, win, win, win! Whew, that was fun and took a while to assess. Thanks for posting this. I am now mentally exhausted and feel like I have just been a contestant on who wants to be a millionaire! |

some of you can use this to help you win. Makarov is Russian 9X18Makarov Hi-capacity IJ70-18AH, made by Imez, with standard import grips(I think, hard to tell from photo, could be Pierce grips), and standard adjustable sights. I also recognize the Beretta 92Fs Inox Stainless, standard rubber Beretta(made by houge)grips, low and to the left of the Makarov. Since I think no one else descibed this to to extream. Ruger MKII Gov. 4"? heavy barrel, adjustable target sights, Pachmire?(gosh, I mangeled that)target grip. |
| Dangit! I think I made a boo-boo. I mis-identified the large caliber stainless revolver with long barrel above. Looking at the hammer and the rounded portion behind the cylinder, I realize the Smith and Wesson model 29 is in fact a Ruger. I wish I had taken more time looking at that one. Guess that boo-boo eliminated me from the competition. Oh well, it was fun anyway! |

| LMAO! Good one Big Bear! Man, there were a few surprises in there. It's amazing how difficult it can be to distinguish between, say, a Smith and Wesson Model 29 and a 625 when the finish looks the same in the pic. And I was also glad to find out that the two-tone pistol was a Star.....that one had me stumped, but I guess my answer of Llama compact wasn't a bad one. And everybody guessed that the little Kel-Tec was a P-11 and not the P-32. All in all, a great contest. |
Great guesses Bear, but you missed the deadline by over 5 hours. Sorry about that It looks like Charging_Handle and reidry tied for the winner! Congrats! Drop me an email with your addresses and I'll send you each something firearm related (I'm still cleaning out my office and finding all sorts of interesting stuff). David< |
