| A friend of mine bought a .45 for his nephew to target shoot. However, after looking at the gun, the firing pin is sticking out about 1/4". This does not look normal to me. Is it stuck or is this normal? No hi-point flaming please. Need to get this safety issue resolved. Thanks. |
My suggestion would be to contact them ( Hi-point) directly and talk to them. You are only going to probably get the kind of comments and flaming you don't want here. Actually, first thing would be to take it back to the dealer he bought it from and have him see it and find out if there is a problem or a legitimate issue with the gun. If you aren't satisfied with his answer, or he doesn't have one, call hi-point. It possibly couldbe stuck and result in some major problems. DO NOT shoot it until the problem is resolved. He's asking for help. Not to be flamed. He's not asking for all the hi-point haters club to bash him or his buddy for asking the question about the hand gun. No I don't own a high point pistol.I have seen them and handled them. And no I don't care to own one. I own one of the carbines among all the other normal rifles and pistols/handguns I own. Fun little plinker. I'm not going to get into a p*ssing contest in this guys thread or with anyone period. But d*m he asked a question and asked for help. Either be constructive or helpful or just don't reply. |
I gave him the best help he would find by telling him to throw that POS away ASAP. Shooting one is a good way to rid one of fingers or hands as they're made out of pot metal. If that's not constructive, I don't know what is. Nor did I call him a so-and-so for buying one, did I? As for "not replying", I do not need your nor anyone else's permission to post in any public thread. You don't like a post, don't read it, sir. |

My apoligies Mr.Cole. I had a bad day Yesterday. Tired from being at another hospital all day and guess I was a little punchy. Never intended for you to take it as you needed my or anyone's permission. I guess It's just the way this place is sometimes. Most people are quick on the draw and short with actual help. I do agree with you though. They are cheap little things. Never shot one, probably never will. |
Send it back to be fixed/replaced. Upon its return, sell it. Then you are good to go!![]() Be well! [email protected] |
| The other month, I was picking out a WASR-10 from the local gun/pawn shop I do business with, and a "thug" just finished paying off his layaway on a shiny new Hi-Point 9mm. After handling it for a few minutes, he looks at the dealer and says that he wants to pawn it. The dealer gives him some paperwork, and five minutes later, the "thug" is walking out with $40 in his pocket minus a Hi-Point 9mm. Don't understand the logic of paying off a layaway and then pawning it. Maybe the "thug" realized it was a POS and cut his losses? |
