HK USP 45 or Mk. 23 SOCOM.  The best there is, unless you are specifically looking for a 1911.   <--- that is a period

I have only dealt with Kimbers myself, and they are exellent in my experience.

What is your price range?

800$

USP 45. For $800 you could probably find an excellent condition used USP Tactical or get really close to a new one. I'd go with that, a Springfield 1911, or a Smith & Wesson 1911.

a brand spanking new Glock 21, a 3.5lb trigger connector and a pile of mags can be had for $800.

for $800, definately go with an HK USP of some kind.

Like olds2tyguy said, you can probably find a good condition tactical model for that price.

I think I paid $850 + shipping for my used USP Tactical with a UTL.  A HK is more in your price range than you think.

If you plan on concealing it, I recommend a Springfield Loaded 1911 or a Kimber TLE.

S&W 1911.  I have had 3 other 1911's and this one is by far the best and the only one I have now.  Sold the others.   Paid $679 for mine and came with 2 Wilson combat mags.
