My favorite handgun is hands down, my HK Mk. 23 SOCOM, in 45 ACP. A close second would be its little brother, my USP45 Tactical. As you can probably tell, my favorite handgun company is HK. The price I paid for the Mk. 23 was around $1800, and the USP 45 Tactical (my first HK), was around $980. My favorite non-HK handgun is my Freedom Arms .454 Casull Premier Grade with a 10" barrel. I paid about $2000 for that one. |

right now I mavorite to shoot is my Colt Anaconda in .44 Mag. If you can find someone who wants to sell it my guess is that it would be between $700- $800 I really like shooting my new Colt Commander. But that is probably because I just got it today. I got it used for $630 I have owned a Glock Hk SW and Kimer. I keep going back to Colt. |

My favorite handgun is a Cold Woodsman Match Target that was passed down in the family. A good accurate .22 auto is hard to beat and it's a LOT of fun. (Ruger MkII, Browning Buckmark, etc.) I like the accuracy potential of a 1911. I've got a Kimber Golt Match II that's been flawless (price tag right around a grand). One of the greatest things about the 1911 is the potential for a good trigger. For IDPA, I use a Glock 34. Reasonable accuracy, easy on the wallet, cheap to feed, and excellent reliability. The 34 seems to handle a little differently than the other Glocks too. |

Hard to say, I'm fond of my Glock 19, Browning HP, Beretta 92's. Love my SW 686 and 629 as well. ETA: PIC and thread I started on my 686 thread |

First would be my hard chromed BHP in .40 S&W, accurate, low recoil (with Sprinco +p recoil reducer) with Ranger ammo, ergonomic, concealable, great trigger (thanks to Tripp Research). Second, my HK P7M8 9mm, safe, very accurate, very concealable, great trigger, squeeze cocking, very controllable with 9mm Ranger ammo. Third would be my Series 80 SS Gold Cup National Match, awesome trigger, awesome trigger, awesome trigger, very accurate, totally reliable (1 Colt mag failure since 1985!), my old but now retired carry gun. |
A question like that is likely to start a bit of an argument. Most people like one or the other for one main reason. Truth be told both are good manufactures. Each has is selling points. Colt has its history and the fact that having the pony on your gun gives it a higher resale value. Springfield has generally good quality guns at a lower price. They also have their down sides. For instance Colts tend to be more expensive and some Springfields are made over seas. In the end it is up to the end user. |

Wow the 1911 is popular. Honestly the only thing I knew about the gun was it was the legedary WWII sidearm. I went on Springfields site and checked it out...wow that's a nice pistol. Thanks for all the replies I've been looking into each of the guns mentioned. What pistol would you guys recommend I buy? I'm kinda leaning towards the 1911 but I haven't ruled out a couple glocks, usps and kimbers. |
| My favorite handgun. WOW! That would be like asking my wife to pick one pair of shoes! LOL. From what you described I would get a CZ-97B. Mine is accurate, Reliable, Double/single action and its got 10rounds in a proper fitting mag. It looks cool and handles good for me. A good quality 1911 would also be good (Spring Field, Kimber, Colt ect.) would also be great. My real favorites are all to expensive or illegal to own. LOL. I would love to have that full auto Glock or George Pattons revolvers. I am a .45 guy though but hey I lovem all. |

It isn't the most accurate (doesn't even have sights), not a lot of fun to shoot, probably not the most durable, but it is very dependable. Mainly, it is always, always with me every day and has been for years: a Seecamp .32 ACP. By this definition, its my favorite pistol. |

CZ-75 B in 9mm NATO of course. best combat sidearm available at any price in my opinion. outstanding reliability outstanding design low bore axis very similar to a Browning High power but better. $350-$400 new polymer framed double stacks like glocks, XDs, and ESPECIALLY HKs feel like topheavy unwieldy bricks too me now. -Spaceman |

My favorite has to be my Para-Ordnance Tac Four (stainless). The LDA trigger is a sweet set-up. It's a very accurate weapon and get good, tight groupings out to 25 yards. Most reliable I'd have to say is Glock 22. Have carried one for over 8 years in law enforcement now. Only failures/malfunctions I've had are ammo-related (my PD likes to use cheap ammo). Keep it stocked with Hydra-Shoks while on duty. |

My Favorite is a long-sought S&W M-65 three-inch, I did my best action job ever on it and the DA trigger is scary-light, about seven pounds. SA is a careful whisper, about 2 lbs. I only shoot it DA. My duty gun, due to local ordinance, is a S&W M-10 4 inch with the tapered barrel. It's not bad, but after 46K through it, we understand each other. But my favorite auto is a (gasp....blasphemy!) EAA Witness in 40 I've had since 1990 or 91. It will feed anything, never bobbles, and is all-steel, and handled just like a good 1911. You can also carry it cocked and locked, which I prefer. But I tend to shoot revolvers better, I have small hands but long fingers, and you can choose from about a zillion different grips on revolvers. Not so with autos!hinking.gif Papajohn |
