You know how you find a gun every so often that you just want? That's me for a Glock 23C. What got me started was I bought a Kel Tec SUB2000 in .40 (Glock mag). That started me thinking maybe I should have a .40 Glock to go with it - same mags and ammo. Not like I don't already have too many carbines and pistols and need another caliber like a hole in the head but I do plan on keeping the SUB2000, so.....

Anyway, the 23C is a 4" barrel with ports and a ported slide for recoil comp. Years ago I had a SA Ultra-Compact V-10 .45 (compensated by ports) and I keep thinking about it years after I sold it. So, its kind of predictable that sooner or later I was going to fall for another ported pistol. Anyway, after getting the SUB2000 and taking my first close look ever at a Glock magazine, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality. I thought if the pistols are made with the same craftsmanship and attention to detail, I want one. For example, the stainless steel mag liner/feed lips edges are all smoothed so when you're loading the mag or pushing rounds out of it with the thumb, you don't get cut like you will with most mags. Obviously this also promotes smoother ammunition feeding and contributes to the perception of overall quality in the firearm.

Anybody else have one of these fire-breathers?

I have a 21c and a 22c.

Love them both.

the Comp does take the snap out of the 40 that I do not care for.

Yep. I think the 23C is a nearly ideal pistol. It's one of my primary EDC handguns. I have a Lone Wolf threaded barrel which is an inexpensive way to both eliminate the compensation feature (when desired) and make it a suppressor host.  Or run it stock as a firebreather and softer shooting .40. If you don't want to offend your more sensible shooting friends, it's easy to detune it to 9mm to show how conformist you can be.  My Gen3 23C is one of my favorite all-time purchases.

Thanks for the replies! I'm afraid you're talking me into pushing the button! And I had forgotten about simply swapping in a regular 23 barrel if I get tired of the fireworks. That really makes it a no-brainer.
