Hello my American neighbours. Much love from Canada, the land of war and brutality and chaos.

Help me choose between these. I have small hands so that is the biggest factor. Im puting prices in CDN dollar so dont tell me its cheaper elsewhere. Im just putting it there fore reference.

Walther PPQm2 5inch barrel $790

H&K vp9 $890

S&W M&P 2.0 9mm $590

Glock 17 Gen 4 $780

The Sig p226 Legion  $1600 is really nice but i hear the p226 are bad for people with small hands. plus the gun is double and triple the price of these guns.

Probably glock. Tough to beat. I have an m&p 2.0 too and they are sweet as well. Really soft shooters. Softer than a glock. Lighter trigger too. 5lbs stock compared to 6lbs on the glock.

Glock 17

I have small hands as well.  Have both the Glock and the P226.  Love both, but shoot the Glock more than the Sig.

I'm biased as I have one but I gotta say PPQ.

The Glock and 226 are definitely the two worst choices for small hands that you have listed. I'd have to recommend the m2.0. The grip can be made very small and it's cheaper.

They're all great pistols. Not sure of the laws in Canada but can you rent guns there? Best way to see what you like is rent one for a session. I've heard a lot of good about the M&p 2. And it seems to be the cheapest definetly not a bad choice

I like the way Sigs are built but I can't wrap my mind around the double/single trigger.

The G17 by no means has a "small" grip but the G4 isn't real huge either. I also like the aftermarket
support in terms of a boatload of stuff you can find .Resale on the Glock is also very good

I also recommend you try and find a way to get some shooting time on the different guns you are looking at.
Going into a shop and grabbing the grip is no way to pick a gun . I have been shooting all types of guns for years and am still surprised from time to time by what I shoot well. A couple of years back I did a multi gun trade and wound up with a G30 . This gun felt horrible in my hand and I fully expected that I would be selling it off. Felt like I was holding a big square brick in my hand . Much to my surprise I shoot it quite well.

The Glock is reasonable in price, has great resale, very reliable and the factory has great service and response.
The only possible decisions you have to make is if you can live with the grip size and if the overall size of the gun suits the type of use you have in mind.

To really stir the pot I would suggest you look hard at the G19 gen4. Usually I am the type of guy to tell folks they will likely shoot the gun with a bit more weight and sight radius better but for various reasons the G19 seems to be a exception to that way of thinking for many folks.

My club runs a falling plate shoot where speed and accuracy come into play . Lots of folks using G19s and most of them own a 17 or a 34 but have found they shoot better with the 19

I have small hands and I say the PPQ or the M&P. Don't know how difficult it is to try them out up there but if you can that would be the thing to do

I'd go VP9.

Out of the box reliable, durable, shootable.

No bullshit with the VP9. It's ready just how you buy it.

I am going to deviate from what everyone is telling you and tell you to finger bang every single one of those pistols and find the one that feels best in your hand.  I know what I would like best out of your list but that does you absolutely no good if I tell you what I like.  All your choices are top notch and no matter which you choose they will all serve you well.  It really comes down to which feels the best in "YOUR" hand and the one you like the trigger on the most.  Also handle the pistol doing reloads see which functions best for you.  Consider the trigger reach, the ability of your hand to manipulate the magazine release, and slide stop.  Some of those choices come with better sight options on the side arm and some of your choices have far better aftermarket support than others so that is also something to consider.

If you've got small hands you should probably buy the S&W.

From your list I'd choose the S&W M&P 2.0 9mm first then the Walther PPQm2 5inch

There are better 9mm pistols available. Have you checked the CZ line of pistols? They're great pistols and they are reasonably priced (for those that care, I don't because I look at quality over price as the bottom line when your life is on the line). If you can afford the expense I'd highly recommend the H&K P7M8 or M13 9mm pistols. They're the best 9mm pistols around. They're the most accurate, safest, fastest (on combat reloading), and reliable 9mm pistols that I've ever owned and ever carried on duty.

The M8 is the most comfortable (for small hands) because it uses a single stack magazine holding only 8 rds. The M13 has a larger grip because it uses a double stack magazine 13 rds.

They're honestly all really good guns.  No obvious stinkers in the group to easily eliminate.

If you're not already invested in a platform (holsters, mags, etc) you're a lucky man to have such good choices.  For smaller hands, I'd likely lean toward the M&P or PPQ first, the Glock next (that Gen4 frame with no backstrap really isn't too huge).

Whichever way you go though, you really can't go wrong.

As I understand it Canadian law pretty much leaves you defenseless as your guns have to be locked up unloaded and are essentially range toys only. As such I would look for a much different pistol. As a general purpose range toy a 9mm is clearly the way to go ammo cost wise. And if I recall you may have mag capacity limits. I would look at a 9mm 1911 such as the Colt competition which may be outlandishly expensive. Barring that a really good quality revolver is not a bad choice either.
Regarding the choices you list I would say they are all on level ground honestly and a gen 4 glock would be fine.
If I were starting all over again ( the only reason I stuck with glock as my "combat pistol" platform is my participation in gssf matches) I would get an HK ups with the lock out module for cocked and locked only

Canadian dollars and Canada has a hefty excise tax on firearms so most guns in Canada run close to double the price they would in the states

Glock G17 is your BEST VALUE!  The G17 is Glock's original and BEST MODEL!

HK VP9 is well worth considering. Excellent ergonomics, high quality, super accurate right out of the box, needs no modifications. I especially like the ambidextrous paddle style magazine release and I prefer the luminous sights, rather than tritium night sights, for rapid target acquisition.

I think you need to see how each feels in your hand if you cannot try them out. I like Glocks because they are rugged and I like how simple they are. My friend's PPQ feels like a 'delux' gun when I shoot it.

Also I would look at the Glock 19 as it is slightly smaller.

Whatever you buy, don't buy this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCOQf12y3kw

I think the VP9 is hard to beat.  My next choice would be the m&p 2.0.  Both have great ergonomics.  I have a Glock but I'm not really a big fan of it.

I just went through this and was considering about the same options you listed except I was looking at a p320 instead of a p226. I prefer a smaller grip diameters on guns and I came down to the G17 G4, p320, and the M&P 2.0. The G4 glock w/o the backstrap does seem to me to be smaller than the G3's and I found them comfortable. P320 also has a great feeling trigger. Don't know whats available in Canada though.

I ended up grabbing a used p226 though. It has an "E2" grip that is made to be smaller than the standard grips.

M&P 2.0 and then use the money saved on a APEX trigger kit and Trijicon HD night sights  I'm not a fan of plastic striker fired guns, but I gotta say this setup is sweet!!
