I was changing mags this AM (monthly ritual) and started to wonder about the weight of my EDC rotation.
I have read many posts asking about the weight of different models, styles and capacities. So I loaded up two of my normal rotation and dug out the scale. First up is my most commonly used Sig P-320 9MM, two mags of 124G Sig Elite (so 31 rounds), SureFire XC-1, Dara holster and Multi brand spare mag carrier. 
Next up was my favorite carry 1911. S&W "E" series commander (I'll call it light weight due to the Scandium frame), 17 rounds of 230G home-loaded HP's, in a Galco King Tuk (the most comfortable holsters (to me)) with a spare mag carried in a Nylon Gerber multi-tool pouch. 
I was pretty impressed that the 1911 came in so close in weight. Both are part of the carry rotation, but the Sig sees considerable more daylight. Mostly based on the available round count. This was just something I figured I would post up to start a conversation. Would love to see what some of the hive have going as far as weight is concerned. Not really interested in a bunch of gun bashers, these are mine and I shoot them well, I like them, so I use them. Just want to see where others find on on how heavy the crap on their waist is. For me weight only plays a part. At least in the comfort category. Which admittedly should really be the last category. I feel like my HiPower is NEARLY as easy to carry as my G26 because it's just less chunky. It does weigh quite a bit more and I notice it. But there are times when I don't notice it much at all. Despite of how light the G26 is, it still feels a tad bit chunky sometimes. I like carrying the HiPower. More rounds and I shoot it better. I would rather carry my M9, but the last time I did I got a back ache the next day. So.... I need to try again sometime and see if I still get one.
But I do carry my 442 a lot. Mostly because sometimes I'm wearing clothes that won't cover up a big gun as well. I probably need more options that way. And the 442 is nearly always on me at home. It's just always there and it's not hard for it to be always there. But here again when I'm carrying it, I tend to think I should be carrying something with more capacity. |

I carried a Hi Power for many years, never bothered me. Of course I only use the best gunleather money can buy and that goes a long way. I picked up an aluminum frame Hi Power that I will buid up into my "ultimate/last" carry gun. |

| Looks like you're torn between the classic 9mm with more bullets vs the larger 45acp with less rounds. Both are about the same size and weight. I bounce back and force between the two styles. Usually a Lightweight Commander 1911 and Glock 19. I think the 1911 carries better, conceals easier and is more comfortable. And I doubt you'll get into a crazy shooting for self defense. So I'll take less rounds of the larger 45acp personally. But I know a lot of guys that prefer the Glock 19 with more ammo. I don't think you can really go wrong either way. |

S&W 340 loaded with 5 Buffalo Bore 158gr. LSWCHP's carried AIWB in a Raven VG2. I can get away with a mouse gun on me because on the passenger seat is 37.5 pounds worth of plate carrier (w/med-kit, 2 AUG mags, holstered H&K P2000) and a Steyr AUG in the rack.

So we weighed it and it was closer to 12

You heavy-packin' dudes seem to be working hard to acquire hernias and back issues. 
Nope, I'll take my Colt New Agent, one spare mag, and call it good. On the other hand, I'm not frequenting the sorts of venues that require massive amounts of firepower and air support to exfiltrate.
