I plan to either buy a USP, either the .45 compact or fullsize.

I would like to CCW the USPc, and was wondering if it's doable w/ my frame. I wear 30" Pants, 5'6, 156 lbs. Is this feasible?

If I can't carry even the USPc, I might just buy the fullsize and find a different pistol for CCW.

Thanks...

The compact is still fairly large.  I'd get the USP45F and a small 9MM auto.

My dad can conceal a 45F.  He is 6'4'' and weighs 240 pounds.

im a little bit bigger than you (5'10" 190lbs) and i ccw my USPC .45.

i wear it in a cheap little IWB holster that i got off ebay in the small of my back and it hides well.

what holster are you looking at getting or already have for ccw for the uspc .45?

I was going to buy a holster after I bought the gun, so I'm open to anything as long as its comfortable.

I knowt he .40/9mm USPs are smaller than the .45s, but I figure the difference is negligible?

I am able to conceal my USP45 Tactical just fine.

I am using a modified Bianchi holster for it, with a hole cut out of the bottom so the threaded barrel can go through.  The holster is actually made for the full size USP, and I think it is fairly comfortable.

I am 6' and about 190 pounds, by the way.

the difference between a 9mm and a .45 is an age old question and IMO it doesnt matter.
if you are going to draw you are going to empty the mag...more or less.  so 8rds of .45 or 12rds of 9mm...take your pick.

ETA:  where do you think the easiest place to conceal on your body is and where do your carry yours adair_usmc

The easiest place to carry would probably be towards my back? I dunno

I don't think I'd be able to conceal a full size USP, although Tom Cruise did it in Collateral? heh

I carry mine on my right side.  Since I always wear longer shirts and usually a jacket over it, it is completely unnoticeable on me.  I tried carrying in the small of my back for a while, but it was too uncomfortable for me.

I carry mine in a Galco Skyops IWB holster and have never had a problem hidding it.  I am 5'10 175 if that matters.  I love my USPC45 and it is the only pistol I would NEVER sell or get rid of.  Also alot of people find the compact easier to shoot since the grip and trigger reach is quite abit less.  Hold both of the right after another, the compact is much easier to hold for peole with small hands.  I have large hands and also own a fullsize USP and love it aswell.

I think its a matter of how ya dress and how much weight/ bulk ya want. I carry my full size USP 40 in the fall and winter here, but go to a smaller Taurus .40 in the summer. Take a look at the HK 2000 , it may be more in line with a carry gun for ya.  that said, I really like my HK. I'm 5'10" and 180 lbs.

Strong side IWB rear of hip and you will have NO problem. Belly bands work with pullover shirts as well.

I carry a .45 Compact for concealed carry but I am a lot bigger than you. I think it would be tough with your frame.

I'm going to buy a USP regardless, but if I can't carry it what do you recommend? I'd prefer the USP though.

Give it a shot and see what happens. I carry a USP 45 Compact on my right side at about 3:30 with a Blade-Tech IWB holster. I have no problem concealing it with as little as just a T-shirt (one size bigger than I wear of course). I'm 6'0" 170lbs.

For CCW, a compact would be the more practical choice. I love the heck out of my USP .45F, but for carry, I stick with my Sig 229R/9mm.

Since I have nothing useful to add, here is a concealed USP in action.

I wouldn't be CCWing the USP F, only the C.

There's no way I can conceal a fullsize on my frame. But I would still like to have one.

A lot of it has to do with your wardrobe.  If you can get away with the fashion statement of a 5.11 vest, the full size is a great choice and you can use an OWB holster.  I've recently resigned myself to the fact that I look like a dork, but I'm getting old enough not to care.

I like my 5-11 vest , but it still gets too hot in the summer . It works great fall and spring though.

5'9" 165lbs, respectable beer belly.

The H&K USP45 is only a compact in that, it is smaller than the H&K USP45 full size.

It is not a gun that I would describe as ideal for CCW.   Though light the frame is very wide which will make it uncomfortable for inside the pant carry and prone to imprinting when you are wearing a light cover shirt.

I know two people that carry the H&K USP45 Compact and they both carry it in a CCW fanny pack which introduces a whole set of other issues.

Stop.

Pick your CCW gun based on  reason.  It should be small, light, narrow, comfortable (even easy) to carry and most of all it needs to work every time you pull the trigger.

IMHO better options:
Colt, Kimber, Springfield subcompact .45's (I carry a Kimber Ultra Stainless)
Sig P239 in .40
Small Frame .38 S&W or Taurus Revolvers
Kahr .40 or the new .45 (jury is still out on this one)
Glock (still wide frames, uncomfortable for inside the pant carry) 23 or 36

I'm 5 foot 8 and 220, not too much of a belly, I look closer to 180, waist is about 38 or 40 inches or so and I can carry similar-sized pistols strong-side in my waistband (like the SW Sigma 40F) quite well with those Uncle Mike's IWB holsters that you find on sites like CTD.  I can even carry a full-size M1911 in a pinch without being obvious, but it isn't very comfortable.  I just have to remember to make sure my shirt is fairly loose, which I usually like anyways.  I've never liked carrying at the small of my back because I worry about my shirt tail going up too high.  So, I wouldn't think a USP would be too difficult.  I know this may sound weird, but if you want to know what you can conceal and what you can't and you can't go out borrowing/trying other people's pistols, buy a few cheap airsoft spring pistols (USP replicas can be had for $19.95).  They're dimensionally correct, but lighter.  If you can conceal an airsoft replica, you can conceal the real item and it's far cheaper/easier to do that and find out you can't use it as a CCW than to buy a real pistol and have to go through returning it because it doesn't serve your purpose, and you get a toy gun out of the deal either way, lol.
