Been trying to stock up on 556 for the ar and 45 ammo for my commander 1911, I also own a lcp and 500 rds for it.
Question is should I pop for a glock 19 or a plate carrier and chest rig next. Rig will cost a little less but I dont know how practical it is.

I would get the Glock 19.....My reasoning is such: I am personally not a paranoid, or the PC term "prepared." If SHTF then I will be the first to say I was wrong and I'll be shit outta luck. However, having said that, with the money you would put in a carrier you could buy ammo or a gun or both, and enjoy yourself...If you're into the "prepared" thing, might as well get the carrier.....But honestly, unless you're on instagram or youtube making tier 1 tacticool videos of how fast your draw time is or reload time, there really isn't much need for a carrier....Again unless you are one that likes to be..."prepared".

just my .02

I am going to say Glock 19 but that is because I really like Glock 19s and really don't like 1911s for practical use. Personal preference/opinion. If the question were kind of flipped around and you had a Glock 19 and were deciding between buying a 1911 of a plate carrier, then I would say get some armor.

G19 because 9mm is cheap to train with. (cheapER anyway)

Depends. Do you already have a good carry handgun? (not the LCP....lol, I'm joke)
Seriously though. If you're good on guns, maybe look into a plate carrier.

I'd put the 1911 on the chest rig and use the g19 as a step up ccw from the lcp.

LCP is more of an ankle gun

Well sounds like the decision is clear, Glock it is. It will probley take another weeks paycheck , but it gives me time to shop , maybe pick one up second hand. I think after buying it i will get half a dozen magpul mags and a incog holster. if it dosent come with night sights I will send it to the factory and get some installed.

I love the 1911 to death, but I am not quick to trust it after a slam fire. LCP is fun and very conciable but not worth really too much past 15 yards, or so in my hands that is. 19 will be my edc for now

Glock 19, my friend.

Id go with the Glock 19, myself.  Its the kind of gun I feel like every gun owner should own.  Ive had people ask me my opinion on what pistol they should get if they only get one pistol, and I always tell them the Glock 19.
To be honest, and its just my personal opinion, the Glock is a lot more likely to save your life one day than having a chest rig sitting around.

EDIT:
By the way, Im in no way a Glock fanboy or whatever.  But a great reliable gun is just that... also, its so widely used that getting replacement parts/magazines would be easy to obtain and the ammo is plentiful.  Its like owning an AR-15.  Whether you like them or not, theyre a good gun to have around.

I was going to say "it depends on what you need them for", but you already decided on the Glock.  Instead of buying 6 Magpul mags, I'd maybe buy a couple factory mags.  Not knocking the Magpul mags, but some folks have not liked them as much as factory mags.  I like to have at least 4 factory mags for all of my guns before I start buying "spares".  The difference is only about 5 bucks each, so you can buy 4-5 Glock mags for the same money, or you can buy a couple Glock mags and a couple Magpul mags.  TTYL, time to go buy some Magpul mags for my G19.
