Just got a .22 pistol for some cheap target shooting...... What's the hottest HP .22LR ammo to get? Is 40 grain tops?
Any help appreciated...

I think that the CCI Stinger is the hottest. I have used Velocitors in a 22/45 with good results.

Hottest does not always translate into most accurate, but "stingers" sure are fun. I think they gain some velocity by cutting weight...36 grain projectiles, rather than the normal 40.

I think the Aguila super-maximum is the hottest....not sure, though.
