When firing my wife's highpoint .380 using blazer brass the weopon seems to function properly the same goes for the reloads using  w231 . I have made some reloads myself using unique  and when we fire those it will fire the first round eject the brass but will not chamber the next round. Anybody have an idea why?

Sounds like you need to increase the charge (staying below maximums, of course).

Sorry I should have included this in my last post I started out at 2.8 on the first try right in the middle I had this issue thought the same thing increase the charge. So I did I increased it to right at max 3.3 and still am have the same issue.

Installing a lighter rate recoil spring would be what I'd try next.

What weight bullet are you using?  Is it not feeding the 2nd round @ all, or does it jam?  Pics of reloaded ammo next to factory ammo, please.

Its not loading the 2nd at all. I'll post the pic of the reload and factory ammo side by side soon as I get a chance along with weight

Is it resetting the trigger?

You know come to think about it its not resetting the trigger. It will fire the first round eject the spent cartridge and won't feed the next round and then nothing. The  bullet I'm using is 95gr speer tmj using 3.3gr of unigue. The other reloads I tested using 102gr bullet with 3.3gr w231 powder the weapon functioned correctly same goes for the factory blazer ammo.

The 380 is blow back action in your Hi Point  pistol.  The WW231 is a fast pistol powder and burns quickly so your getting a better recoil impulse than your load with Unique. The 100 grain bullet also helps with the recoil impulse compared to the 95 grain bullet with the Unique powder.  Your pistol probably doesn't have enough slide momentum to travel completely to the rear to cock the action and strip the top round out of your magazine.  A loose grip will only aggravate this problem as the Hi Point has a heavy slide and stout recoil spring.

I would try your 95 grain loads with a Max load of 231 powder and see if it will function in your Hi Point.

I just recently dealt with a similar issue with new Glock 42's which are locked breach.  A friend loaded some 100 grain bullets with a median load of Unique.  There was not enough recoil energy to cycle 3 different G-42 pistols.  My 95 grain FMJ with 3.6 grains of Accurate # 2 work 100% in the Glock G-42.  Accurate list 3.7 grains as Max load  with  90 and 95 grain bullets.  I loaded 88 grain Remington HP and 90 grain XTP  with 3.7 grains of #2 and WW SP primers which also work 100%.  Accurate # 2 is a fast burning powder similar to W231 or Bullseye.

Increase charge.  If you are already close to max, switch to a slower powder.
