| It really is good to see this thread make it to 10 pages with more and more of y'all adding WML. When I come across those who do not have them or refuse to add them I always challenge them on it. The greatest challenge questions are ..... "You believe in the 4 rules of shooting right?" Which usually results in a yes. "Half of a day is night right or you find yourself in the dark at some point?" again a yes usually comes out of the question. "So how would you identify a target in the dark?" sometimes the questioning ends here with the realization and thought triggered of maybe a WML is a good idea but some will still fight it and say I carry a flashlight then the conversation continues. "Do you think you will always be able to get to and utilize the handheld as readily and quickly as a WML" or "will you have the conscious thought while you are experiencing an adrenaline dump to reach for it sacrificing your second hand on your pistol?" deep thought usually ensues. But some will fight it still.... They are bulky, I do not plan on using it, or I cannot afford it financially at this time(which I understand because it requires a light and new holster). I recently got a friend to start carrying his G43 with a light because I gave him a holster for it and he bought the light on sale. We should be encouraging our fellow carries to start adding lights and challenging those who detract with some logic but not being an ass about it. |

Wmls are great for duty weapons when you may have to search for a bad guy, or a nightstand gun where you might need to do some searching?as well. As an edc item I find their practicality limited. Obviously you can carry both but if I'm already using my handheld it's already on and being useful. Without a doubt fighting with a handgun with a wml is exponentially easier and more efficient. But the bulk of good wml on a gun carried 16 hours a day out ways the slim chance of using it in a situation I could handle with a handheld. I will always id a potential threat with a handheld first as a private citizen. If I'm being assaulted and can't get my handheld then it's a moot point anyways. I will carry a handgun with a wml on occasion but it isn't an every day thing. |

Their is s slim chance you will ever need your firearm, a even slimmer chance you will ever need your firearm with a WML, and so on. But lets be honest here we do not not carry a firearm because of the slim chance we will need it we carry it because on the off chance today is the day shit goes down hill and we actually need it. It is all an odds game and I want to odds to be stacked in my favor. Originally Posted By EdgecrusherXES:

I just shoot/reload with a handheld on a weekly basis |

But I bought it for the light anyways, and I plan on finding night sights so said F it I’ll keep it. I wish Surefire would make something for the Shield as well but our options are limited there |

I'm a fan of old school Surefire although the lamp has been updated to LED. This one sleeps with me.

I have an old P116 on one of my M9s but the fact that the light isn't that great has regulated it to range toy. I would really like to upgrade the lights in my P116 and an old M500 I have kicking around. Attached File Attached File |

Well, let me tell you converting one of these old Surefire lights to LED is not an easy task because it's wired with reverse polarity. I have no clue why Surefire did this but the center post is negative which means no standard LED drop in will function. I spent weeks trying to find a P60 pill that was made with reverse polarity and then built my own drop-in around it. It was several years ago but I asked on the candle power forums and found a guy who had made a single pill for this and wasn't using it so I bought it from him. I also replaced the plastic lens with glass which wasn't easy either because the lens is pressed in while warm. I cracked three glass lenses before I was able to get one pressed into place. I'm afraid I have no good news for you unfortunately. The only way I found was to get that negatively wired pill and I feel like I was lucky to come across one. Wish I had better news to share and good luck. I love these lights and this one is going to die with me.
EDIT: i wanted to add one thing. Some people say they were able to reverse the batteries in their units and then use a standard P60 drop in. I tried and tried this but it never worked with my light. I have no idea why it seems to work for some and not for others. |

It's just when I compare them to my 500Lum handhelds and 1,000Lum weaponlights you really see how far outclassed they are by modern lights. It is also impressive when think about how far weapon lights have come. Twelve years or so ago these lights were cutting edge. Now they are just retro cool. Pic thread.
