I want to add a derringer to my collection. What do I need to know, aside from they suck at accuracy, and aren't fun to shoot?

I'd like something minimum .38, so I could carry it as an extreme backup assuming my first, second, and third magazine for my Glock somehow fail me in the unlikely event I need to utilize my CCW piece.

Maybe that Heizer Double Tap?  It's new and different.

I have a had a couple types throughout the years and Bond Arms is the only one to get. All of the others are junk in comparison. Parts break, pins loosen, etc.. Try and shoot/rent one prior to buying though. The are not all fun and games.

I got a Davis back in the day. (now Cobra) They were about $78. I've had fun with it. 38spec. It gos bang every time. The worse thing is the trigger pull must be 30#? I bought it for my mother but she can't even pull the trigger.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO PUT THE HAMMER AT HALF COCK BEFORE LOADING!

Stay away from cheap derringers....stay away.  Anywho, Bond Arms are the big dog, they are built like tanks.  Mine is the Bond Girl Mini in .357 magnum and up close t would definitely be a game ender.  The only thing I don't care for is that one little derringer weighs as much as a full size gun, my STI Elektra is way lighter than my derringer.  They are awesome though, it's hilarious how many guys have come over to see little pink derringer but are too scared to shoot it lol.

For your scenario.   I would suggest a beltsword over a small bb shooter.

That is freaking awesome!

eta: daily carry is either my Glock 23 or 27. This would just be in the pocket in the unlikely event that two mags malfunction.

Back in the late 80s got a used Davis Derringer in .25 ACP for running.  Shot good till it fell apart when my sister was shooting it.  Do remember the serial number for some reason, 3030  Got a American Derringer Corp. Model 7 Lightweight in .380 ACP.  At 7.5 oz it does have recoil.

I still want one of the old High Standard derringers.
