Well, put the above 1911 on layaway today.  Beautiful pistol.  Anyone own one?  How does it perform?

you're always taking a chance with Springfield....their QC is abysmal!  HOWEVER, THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THIS TUNNEL!!!  Usually springfield frames and slides are made in Brazil by a VERY good forging company called Imbel.  Most often the frames and slides are good to go and if you have problems they are usually caused by the shitty, cheap internals that Springfield uses.  fotunately there is often the option of replacing any particular offending components with good Wilson or Ed Brown or Cylinder and Slide components according to their instructions.

SA's black stainless is a damn nice looking gun and if you have any issues they will be fairly easy to remedy as there are a LOT of good 1911 folks here who can help you troubleshoot and fix just about any problem.

I have said pistol. I bought it used last year. It needed the chamber reamed a bit deeper and some polishing on the feed ramp, but it it now my favorite gun. It is a great shooter, just too heavy to carry everyday or it would br my regular carry gun as well. It is now mainly used for IDPA CDP. I always get lots of comments on it.
