Well I just got my first handun a SP2022, however im looking for some info on this one. It doesnt seem like any others i've seen.
It is a 2012 Swiss framed 2022, without a m1913 rail, just 2 slots? Also it has a mostly rounded trigger gaurd, no lanyard loop and a much flatter decocker.
Is this some special edition or an oddity?

Thanks for any info.

There are a few generations of the pistols.  Mostly cosmetic.

You will probably get a more full answer under the Sig Sauer subforum here.

I think Wikipedia also details the different versions as well.

About halfway down the page is what mine looks like. It's not mine but I have no camera handy. However; it is the same.

Any story behind this model? I was aware they made a few changes but I don't understand why a newer handgun in this line would lose the m1913 rail?

Thanks for any and all info.

To me, it looks like a 2022 slide on the older 2009 frame. I had heard that the SigPro underwent several variations and that while these changes were being made they mixed and matched different parts on new guns to use up old stock. You might have gotten a gun that was built during the switch over from the older style rail to picatinny railed.

Or, as the other forum stated, you might have just gotten a gun that was originally designated to go to the French police, as it is their service pistol. If they needed a replacement for some reason they would probably get one of those as a picitinny 2022 would require a new holster, light, etc. for whatever they use.

I am not sure how you ended up with it but it doesn't really matter, unless you were dead set on attaching a light or laser to it, as it will function just the same as any other SigPro.

Here is a great link for any other additional information you would want on the SigPro series of handguns: http://lundestudio.com/SigProFAQ/

Would regular holsters work due to the rounded trigger guard? Or do I need to find or make a custom holster?

I imagine holsters for the older SigPros would work. I couldn't tell you if a 2022 holster will work or not.
