everyone is looking for the perfect handgun? Here is a list of "wants" that you will see in an average "Recommend me a gun" post:
I want a gun for concealed carry. This gun should have the stopping power of a .44 magnum, The recoil of a .22, Carry 500 round of ammo in the magazine, The gun should be light weight, Very easy to conceal, No slides (wife/daughter/aunt/grandmother can't pull them back) No revolvers (not enough Boolitz) Hammer fired, no striker fired guns (because they've never been proven) Oh yes, no Glocks, they're just plain icky. I would guess the perfect weapon for them would be a phaser from Star Trek. Because there is nothing in THIS reality that will satisfy what these people want. Of course, phasers don't have hammers so even that might not be enough for some people. Feel fee to add anything to the list that I haven't thought of. |

So.....
You want one that hurts like heck to shoot, weighs as much as a boat anchor, has a muzzle blast that blinds you in darkness, one that has tiny sights that you can't see, one that carries only 2 rounds, one that is ugly, and one that costs as much as a car? Yes, you have to draw a line somewhere. But if we didn't have some requirements of what we thought were nice, we would all just be carrying a 1911 or a model 10. Or maybe a 1917. There'd be no need to look further. And it's also evident to me that some handguns just seem to work better than others in my hands. But yeah, I'm still looking for the perfect one. |

I know what you mean, OP. Some people do have an almost impossible list of needs/wants when trying to pick out a handgun.
My grandfather is the same way with cars. It needs to be the size of a Suburban, top speed of 275 mph, float like a Lexus on the highway at 120 mph, get 100 mpg, and cost $20,000.

Quoted:
"Oh, yes, I want the gun-that-doesn't-exist & I want it new for less than $350........" ![]() Yep, forgot to add that to the list. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN A 1911 COSTS $####? Why in my time you could get one for around $75. and a damn nice one too...." Or the cheapskate: I want all of the above and it can't cost more than $150. What do you mean it'll cost more? |
