If I were to guess, having been behind one of those handguns. I'd have to guess there's a noticeable difference in felt recoil.

Actually I shot one and shot something very similar to the other. Curious to hear your comparative experiences.

I'm leaning towards the XDm due to the extended magazine for a full grip while still having an easy to conceal size.

Basically that was a long winded tag.

Huge fan of the Glock 30 but my hands just don't like them. It's too fat for me, even the SF version. I have never liked handguns that use the magazine as an extension of the grip but that's just me.

The Glock 30 is an awesome little package and stupid accurate, very easy to shoot well.

I've got a G30 and my BIL has the XDm; if I had it to do over (which I really do, I guess), I'd go with the XDm.

Im a 1911 guy, and although my G30 was too fat for me to carry I was able to put out the best groups Iv ever shot in my life with that gun....

it is crazy accurate for a gun that size, or any pistol for that matter
I just cant come to like anything about the xd series, and iv shot them a lot. just meh....

Huge Glock fan, but I would give up the G30SF before the XDm. The follow-up shots, soft recoil, and accuracy of the XDm has me giving it the nod.

Those XD's look great and I love the grip safety and other innovations but I keep hearing bad things about it and then I back track.  The Glock is just plain great...no problems there.   That XD sure looks great though....

I just can't own a Glock.

I'm not accurate with them, and they aren't aesthetically pleasing to me at all. I don't like the triggers either, or almost any polymer gun for that matter. I have considered trying to own one, simply because they work, pretty much all the time, and you can beat them to death. I can't argue that, and I really wish I could like them more because they are a fantastic piece of equipment.

I do like the looks of the XD, much better than the Glock, but I've never shot one, so I can't say anything. I'd have to try one before I bought one. I loved the M&P my son had, not crazy about the trigger, but I liked the feel in the hands, could shoot it better than other polymer guns, and it just plain ran good.

I suppose part of being able to shoot it was actually putting enough rounds downrange to sort of get used to it, but picking up a 1911 just seconds later and shooting it, I immediately got better accuracy.

I wish I could shoot a Glock worth a crap, because I would love to have one.

Thanks for the report.

I'm not a (huge) Glock  fan, but have owned several Glocks and two XD pistols. One in .357sig and a service model XD45C. Both were terrible for recoil. A friend owns a Glock 30, recoil was tame compared to XD45C.

Have shot a few XDm pistols in .40 S&W to know XDm is a different animal than XD. I would've have wagered XDm recoil to be harsher than Glock 30sf.

Interesting report,

dc.

I have shot enough over the years that recoil really isn't an issue or something I think too much about unless shooting a very large, powerful caliber or a very small gun. I have to curl my pinkie around the bottom of the XDm grip but my pinkie rests on the extended grip on the G30SF. I think for all my guns in which my pinkie isn't on the grip I seem to bear down a tad more. This maybe the reason for the difference in the perceived recoil......at least for me.

I would like to shoot a G30.  I too have a hard time being accurate with Glocks.  But maybe it would be different with that one.  But if it's too fat for carry.  I'm not really interested.

I don't really understand the mag thing either.  Because I've always seen the G30 with that big bottomed mag.  Yeah, you can get your pinky on it, but if there aren't flatter mags for better concealment, why didn't they just make the frame a little longer and then make the mags flatter on the bottom?  Like all the other mags they offer.

They make flush fitting mags for it I believe. I remember when my dad bought his he didn't like his pinky dangling so he got the 10 round extended mags

That makes sense.  I never saw one.  I've only ever seen it with those extended ones.

As a side note the XDm does come with a very nice case, kydex holster, mag carrier, mag loader, interchangeable backstraps, interchangeable mag extensions, plus a 13 round spare mag.
