In the collective opinion of the hive, is there a best suited "combat" pistol for slide mounted MRD?
While I get that the FN45T comes with a pre-milled slide for it, from what I've seen most pistols either have a mount or can be milled for a slide mounted MRD, so it doesn't seem so much a question of which pistols can mount one, but which is best designed for it? Modern MRDs may not be that heavy, but they still add some weight to the slide, I would think that that would have at least some effect on the timing of the pistol and the felt recoil, as the rear mounted MRD would change the mass at the end of the slide, possibly making it a little snappier going both ways due to reciprocating mass and inertia. Going back to the FN45T, I've always felt that FN pistols at least feel like the bore rides pretty high over the grip - I've never actually measured it, so maybe it's not true, but it certainly feels that way. Am I totally off track here, or are some pistols better than others for mounting an MRD to, and which ones are best? Might a hammer fired pistol be, for some reason better than a striker fired? Or vice versa? What are your thoughts? ~Augee |
