Since my question in the training forum seems to be a dud, I thought I'd post it here instead. MODERATOR, feel free to remove my post in the training section since I cannot. this place sees lots of action, so here's my question... I'm looking at purchasing one of those life-time $4900.00 memberships...that is if I decide that Frontsight is a place I'd go 5,6 or 7 times. I figure with the list of the classes I would get to take for free for the rest of my life (with a two week notice), I would at least take enough of them to make up my original $4900.00. I've spoken to folks who had fun with the UZI shoot, and a two-day handgun course or the four-day, but I haven't gotten alot of info about the school and the other courses. The courses I'd get to take 'FREE OF CHARGE, AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WISH, FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE', are: 2 and 4-day Defensive Handgun 2-day Empty Hand Defense 2-day Edged Weapons 2 and 4-day Practical Rifle 2 and 4-day Tactical Shotgun 2-day Handgun Skill Builder 2-day Advanced Tactical Handgun and 4-day Handgun Combat Master Prep I also get a second membership FREE OF CHARGE! I must be some special kinda person! Got any bridges for sale? Seriously, I just want to know if any of you have experience with this school and if the training in any/all of the courses listed will be worth the $4900.00 up front. I searched the last three months and found a couple of hits, one about Dr. Laura, and the other more to my question here, but only about what to take to a single course. I've scoured the paperwork for fine print and I'll go check out their website for it also...there's ALWAYS fineprint...right? btw, I figure I could make two classes a year at most, one per year for sure. There might be that oddball year when I can go three maybe four, but unlikely. Thanks |

I have attended their 4 day handgun course. IMHO the course was good (B) but their marketing and sales approach for memeberships was laid on a little thick. I would highly suggest first taking a course, then wait for six months (cooling off period) and then if you still felt like throwing money for a membership then do it. Like already said many folks try to get rid if their memberships because they all don't use them. |

Thanks for the replies. I live close enough that I could make the number of courses I posted above. Like I said, definitely one course per year, quite possibly two a year during a good year. I can imagine that sometime I might be able to stretch things enough to go to three classes, but this would not be a regular occurance. The issue for me would be more of time than distance. As far as the 'sales pitch'...I wonder if it's as much for folks who own these 'special' memberships. Probably is. I don't care about the sales stuff as long as it's not taking anything away from the course itself. I'd have no problem standing/sitting there nodding my head and smiling like a bobble-head doll. As I figure it, if the classes are worth it, if this membership is easy to use (the two week notice is all I see so far in the way of rules), then the whole $4900 package works out to be great dollar-wise! BUT, If Frontsight works their, '...as many times as you want, free for life...' memberships like the airlines work their special programs that I've used before, then I might not want it. Things like, -only on certain weekends -only if the class has X number of paying students (no matter that I've already paid) -not able to do consecutive courses (have to wait a certain length of time between 'free' classes) - and whatever else someone might dream up I'll call them tomorrow and get some answers from a live individual. I've heard good things about the actual training, from a few folks that I know or who have posted here. I'm always interested in learning, even to the point of retaking some classes especially if there's a different instructor available. As I mentioned in the opening post, if I just go through each available course once, then I've recouped my investment +, according to the current pricing. The other issue is, what if Frontsight isn't very stable financially and goes belly-up? Then if I haven't gotten my money's worth, I probably would not see the rest. Thanks again |

Is that one of those doc's who look up your...oops...wrong science! No I'm not. I've seen comments about some kind of Scientology link, and many of the comments I've seen said there was no problem and no recent issues concerning religious talk at the school. Again, if it doesn't interfere with my GUN education, it probably won't matter to me what else they want to mention. |

Hey Wsmac, read this: review they pretty much cover most of the questions you have about classes and value. I don't know if anyone mentions whether a $5000 membership would be worth it, although austrian was given a better membership than that by his sister. but his family is well off, i believe. one of his most pertinant posts is on the third page, 12 posts from the top. will you be able to make it to the NW camp out? |

I'm a member at FS and I think the cash is well worth it. Don't listen to the scientology warnings. I've never heard any mention of it. Also, don't worry about the sales pitch. It's not bad and optional. They play it in the classroom at lunch. I live in Vegas and try to make it out there once a month. Definitely worth it for me. The training is top-notch. |

danonly, THANKS! That was a good thread to read! Yes, I am planning on making it to the camp out. If there's anything I can do to help get ready, let me know. hd_pancho, Thanks for your comments also! I can do this as far as finances go, I just wanted to hear what other people's experiences were. |
