I know that Llama isn't best maker out  there....i don't have much money to spend and i'd like to buy an entry level 1911 to practice with...A local guy in town has a brand new Llama max-I 45, full size not the compact for $235 otd....I was wondering if this was a good price for a gun that won't see too much action except for practicing at the range...This won't be my ccw (i've got a SA XD for that)...thanks

I had the commander size when I first turned twenty one.It was awesome shot great was reliable really loved it.Best freind bought a full size one that was a total turd, just crappy accuracy and ftf often. My wife had the mini max 45 officer size it was a good little shooter once I lowered the ejection port.it did shoot an inche to the left and about two inches low at ten yards but group size wasn't to bad.I have a wwI era llama especial that is a great on accuracy but won't lock open on the last round.A lot of the parts a not inter changable either with the real 1911.I don't shoot the one I got any more I enjoy my kimbers and my glock more. But for the price you mentioned it sounds about right.Sorry I rambled on.

Llama doesn't make a 1911. They make a POS 1911 look-a-like.

For not much more money you can pick up a RIA that's at least a real 1911.

Buy a used Springfield & you can at least build it up eventually, should you choose to do so. A Llama isn't a 1911 design, as SGB pointed out.
