I want to send my Hi Power slide to Novak's for some night sights.
Reading through all the BS laws and regulations for USPS, UPS, and FedEx trying to figure out how to get it there is making my head hurt.

Does it have to go overnight, 2nd day, ground, USPS, FedEx, UPS hub?

I'm sure this gets asked frequently and I did a search without finding anything useful.
I thought there used to be a sticky somewhere on here for shipping firearms and ammo but I can't find it either.
I just suck today.

A slide is just a part.  The frame is the serial number part, so the frame is the firearm.  Just send it.

You should be able to ship it USPS, UPS, FedEx or anyone else that you choose.

+1 if it doesn't have the sn it's a part or accessory and not subject to bs firearms laws

You all make it easy.
Guess I'll be shipping a slide tomorrow.

You can ship it, it is not a firearm, I would go UPS or FedEx even though USPS will be cheaper, just because their claims, and tracking system is tens times better than USPS.

Even if it has a serial number, only the frame counts. The slide, frame, and barrel on my Hi Power are all numbered, but I could send the slide and barrel however and to whomever I please.

My mistake, you are correct. Forgot some companies serial number the slide to match the frame.

Almost.
Look at the Ruger MkII .22 pistols............the grip frame is not the firearm, the upper receiver is.

ATF makes the decision as to where the serial number must be placed AND which part is considered "the firearm".

Well I sent it out this afternoon.
Hopefully in a week or so I can post some pics.

I mailed my Sig slide out for refinishing, and on its return trip the USPS stole it.  Their sorting center claimed my address wasn't valid, which is untrue, then shipped it back to the refinisher.  When they opened the box the slide was gone.

The worst part is the USPS doesn't care.  I called their IG and they have done nothing.

Forgot about that one. Kinds like an AR lower and an FAL upper are the serialized parts. Good ol' FAT agents.
