I sent an email out yesterday to the awesome folks at Magpul trying to plant a seed, or help water one planted already, anyway, here it is again for ARFCOM enjoyment.  Please Magpul, please!

>From avid Magpul fan.
With S&W and Magpul's recent teaming and success on some of the M&P rifle lineup, I think it's long past due time to do so as well with the M&P pistol lineup. The Glock magazine Speed Plates adapted to the full size M&P 9/40/45 magazines would be MORE THAN a profitable venture for Magpul and it would only expand it's popularity in the shooting community, particularly with LEO's, and USPSA/IDPA competition shooters. Right now Glocks and M&P's are leading the way in those two arenas, and I'm dying for something Magpul on my M&P9.
Also on a side note, developing standardized "stippled" type backstraps for the M&P/Glock pistols I think would be right in the wheel house for Magpul, as these are considered "pistol furniture". Any similar texture to your XT panels would be a huge grip benefit.
With Magpul's expansion into the shotgun accessory industry, it's obvious that you guys are looking to expand and diversify, so I beg you please give my submissions some consideration, and I thank you for your time.

So what do you guys think, would you be interested in said items produced by Magpul?

I agree with you that aftermarket grip panels for the M&P and Gen4 Glocks would be right in Magpul's wheelhouse. Maybe they don't want to deal with being a "manufacturer" but I bet Magpul could sell the ever-loving-shit out of complete lower receivers for M&P or Glock if they chose to make them.

Now you're talking.  The holster market could be there too.  IDK, I just want something to strip mags with, and those xgrips are terrible.  Sales on the Glock speed plates must have never took off, they aimed at the largest market handgun probably as a testbed.  I just hope they haven’t completely gave up on expanding to other pistols/products.

Unless they could somehow make them significantly cheaper than factory Glock mags........what would be the advantage?  I mean, more options is always better.  Just curious.

No no no.

Stick with Glock or S&W.   Magpul will be laughed at for making Xd parts

Unless Magpul gets into the metal business, I doubt you'll see any XDm mags from them.  XD mags are metal and relatively thin.  Making a polymer mag of the same strength would need to be thicker, and probably not fit in the magwell.

Don't they make some Glock base-plates already?  Me- I have Pierce extensions on all mine, they could probably compete with them on that level- maybe some extended mag releases, trigger kits etc, but it is a pretty saturated market.

I think low-interest, low profit.

Is there a problem with Glock mags as they are?

Is there really much interest in alternate grip panels?

This is a big fat maybe but perhaps a whole new Mapgul Pistol to compete with the Glocks, XD's etc.?  Except if it were up to me it would use an already existing and prevalent magazine out there like Glock etc.

I don't know why the magazines themselves got brought up.  I was suggesting Magpul adapt these...
Magpul Speedplates for Glock Mags

to other pistol manufactures, such as the M&P’s, XD’s, H&K, and so on.

For all those pistols with interchangeable backstrap options, Magpul could make a killing, because look at all these stipple guys out there who are dressing their XTM panels on their long guns or grips on their pistols.  Provide the same color options Magpul has running already, and you’ve got the idea.  Small parts here, so we’re not talking a huge cost for production, and it would be a great way to R&D other ways to get into the pistol market, and the Rifle/Shotgun/Pistol trifecta is complete.

If they made the speed plates for the XD, I would have to have at least 10 of them.

Speed plates in the shooting arena (uspsa) would be a complete waste of time and money. With no market for purchase.

soldering gun fixes any grip issues I may have.

Well, great for you guys (uspsa), I still want them bad.  I'm not dogging those kind of shooters, but watching competitions like Top Shot, the speed pistol shooters usally suck it up, Racaza being one of the very few exceptions.  So for a practical product not to be a big hit in a non practical arena makes total sense to me.

I think the only thing that comes to mind with pistols and Magpul is "Where the hell is the FMG, I want one!"
