So I have to leave the country for work for a WHILE and I was wondering if anyone can tell me, what problems would I run into, if any, from storing individual pistols in a LokSak 12x12 plastic bag?

Should I throw in some silica packets? No?

I leave the country for extended periods on a regular basis. I just keep my handguns in a safe with a Goldenrod. No issues. Before getting the Goldenrod, all I had in the safe was one of the rechargeable silica containers and still didn't have any issues. I would think that by using the LokSak bags, you should be ok. I would just squeeze out all the air and maybe throw in a silica pack for good measure.

silica dessicant, .30 caliber ammo can.
probably okay for 50 years or better.
leave  a treasure map, so your grandson can dig it up some day.

I've been using these and they seem to work just fine so far.

This would work too. I keep all my ammo in .50cal ammo cans and a pack of silica. Works great.

Just remember that silica will hold in water (the moisture from the air), so you don't want it actually touching any metal.  You'll just be helping your gun to rust quicker if you aren't careful.

Good rubdown with RIG grease before putting them in the bag.

Those hand warming packets remove moisture as well

Even after they are done "being warm"?

+1 on the "z corr" or something similar.  Some VCI paper in an ammo can or even in a ziplock would likely work well also.

Poor mans desiccant: rice. Good enough to draw moisture out of your cell phone, should be able to keep a while in an airtight container.

I should mention, it should be uncooked rice.

My new Remington 870 got surface rust after a range session.  I wasn't too upset...it's just an 870.  Cleaned it up and decided to try Eezox while it sat in the cabinet.  No return of the rust yet.

FWIW, here's a little link with a test of various products.  It's outdated and may or may not be a scientific way of determining effectiveness, but here it is:

I have a few handguns which are stored years at a time, I remove the grips and place them in a ziplocck sandwitch bag, clean and heavily oil the gun and place it (and the grips) in a ziplock 1 gallon freezer bag with plenty of oil dumped in. It seems to work well.
