Looking for a quality plate rack to improve my shooting skills. It needs to be portable. Action Targets makes a decent one. Just looking for some other suggestions before I make a final decision.

Befriend a girl that has a nice rack?

Portable is the trick.  Check R&R Racing, I think they make some portable single pepper poppers.

Also, check with your hometown forum.  Might get lucky and have a fellow arfcommer that has the skills, materials, and tools to assemble one to your specs.

Portable plate rack? The only one I've seen is one you tow behind a truck.

But I have seen people buy 6 auto poppers and assemble their own (2 2x4's set on saw horses. Auto poppers lagged onto the 2x4's). MGM is running a special on them right now for $99 ea.

Problem with plate racks is that they generally aren't very portable and also expensive.  What I use as a good alternative is a hinged plate target.  I bought six and line them up like a rack, sometimes.  They are basically the plate mechanism without the rack.  Instead you place them on a 2x4. Works great for pistol.

Mine were made by Drazy Metal Works.
