What bag are you guys using for your handguns & extra. Like hearing, etc.  Looking at the LaRue smaller one but want to see some others as well.  Thanks guys.

I never saw the point in spending a lot of money on a handgun range bag.  I just use a medium size duffle bag and the handguns are in soft cases inside to protect them.

I carry my guns in one of those plastic foam lined gun cases.  the one i have has 2 thick layers of foam and i can put 6 full size 1911s in there w/o any issues.  AFA the mags go, i put those under the foam in the top.

if i want to carry more, i made a carry case to hold 8, but its sort of gun specific.  next case wont be.

any more then that, its the hard plastic case and individual gun rugs.

i have a tackle box i use for most of the gun stuff so that goes.  ear phones are always in the trunk. to carry, just put them on your head or around your neck.

ammo, goes in ammo cans.  i have the MTM boxs for ammo, but those are for special rounds.  i just dump the ammo in bulk since the MTMs take up more space.

I have a shooting systems bag I have had since 87, in decent condition, but on its way to the bag grave yard, sooner rather than later..just breaking down

my replacment bag is

A gatemouth tool bag from Home Depot.
$25 to $55 ....

all that tactical stuff is nice to have, I do not regret spending the $80 1987 dollars and 23 years of heavy use(the exterior shell was my main flying bag as well and probably has a million miles on it  but)

less you have the cash and Im sure LaRue needs some of it..and I by no means imply his stuff isnt quality..

the Gatemouth bags work pretty damn well..and are meant to hold up to hard use

I got a good deal on a 5.11 backpack before they stopped doing the parking lot sales at their warehouse. I love it. Tons of room and pockets. Perfect if you have a zipper fetish. Plus its great to have hands free to carry my rifle cases.

I got a rather small duffle with a stiff insert on the bottom to keep it's shape.  Two outside zippered pouches hold eyes/ears on one side, various tools on the other.  Main center compartment has staple gun, cleaning mat, gloves, sunscreen, bugspray, cleaning supplies, whatever I might feel the need for.

I don't have too many pistols.  I carry one, and two others are in a Plano hardcase with foam cutouts.

$20 Allen I bought at wallyworld about 10 years ago. Has two pockets for handguns and come with two pistol rugs. It's big enough for ammo, hearing protection, extra clips small cleaning kit and such. It's well padded and has been quite durable.

Seem they went up in price some.

My wife bought me the Midwayusa large range bag for my B-day a few years ago. It's a piece of luggage I waited a year or so and sold it on the EE as it was way to big for my needs. This Allen is plenty big enough.

My regular range bag is a large Midway bag which I like a lot; but when I'm only taking a couple of pistols to the range I use a  leather Targus laptop bag.

There are plenty of compartments for all sorts of stuff and a few separate zippered folder sections for targets.

It's good for two pistols, plus the one I'm carrying, 2 pairs of hearing protectors, some ammo, a few tools, magazines, grease and oil, rags, boresnakes, UPLULA, and all the extra stuff I need for a couple of hours of shooting.

If I want to grab a bite to eat after I shoot, I simply sling the bag over my shoulder and walk into a restaurant where nobody is the wiser.

I use this one to carry pistols.

Extended Range Case

It has padded pockets on each side as well as a padded sleeve for a third pistol in the middle along with 12 individual intermal pouches for magazines and two full length zipper pockets on the outside for thinner/smaller items.  If you leave the mag pouches empty, it will accomodate 5 pistols.

One of it's major attractions is that it looks pretty non-descript (less so in person than in the picture, especially in black) and does not scream "gun case", "laptop computer case", or any other case with something someone would reach for first to steal. It looks more like someones insulated lunch bag than anything else.

It's American made by Hafner Worldwide in Lake City Florida and sells for $60.

For the targets, shooting glasses, hearing protection, stapler, targets, 4-6 boxes of ammunition, range finder, small spotting scope, sight adjustment tools, etc, I use a plain old Sears soft side, hard bottomed, basic black, no external pockets 13" tool bag.  It sells for $6.99 and holds a lot more than you'd think (all of the above mentioned items fit in it at the same time).  It comes in 16" and 20" sizes as well if you like to carry more crap.

The Midway bags are OK.
If you want something to carry acessories but not guns, look for gatemouth tool bags with hard bottoms at Harbor freight. My IDPA bag (carries ammo, mags, muffs, glasses, water bottle, rag, lube, hand wipes, holster, mag holder, sunscreen, and snack bars) for $6. Walmart also sells a Stanley hard bottom bag for $15 to $20 that will hold a bunch. I usually carry firearms in their own bag/case.

i made the mistake of getting the large midway one. it is nice because there is a place for EVERYTHING! but it is a very large bag and when loaded up with all your gear ammo and hand guns it is damn heavy. it's just way too big. i am looking for alternatives now myself.

Don't let the price fool you, these are nice bags.

Rains a lot where I shoot so I use a Plano Marine Box.  Bright orange so I don't forget it, waterproof, and big enough to hold: tape, ear protection, cans of spray paint, tape measure, shooting log, pens, staple gun, range finder, first aid kit, eye protection, targets, markers / pens, binoculars, and trash bags (for cleaning up when I'm done shooting).  A removable tray and flip open compartment on the lid helps keep things organized.

ETA:
Easy to clean and I don't have to worry about mold and rust (nylon holds moisture, which in turn rots bags and damages contents).

I use a Chraftsman tool box, it has a tote tray in the top where I keep cleaning rods and such a small hammer, screw drivers and a crescent wrench, for adjusting poppers. in the bottom goes ammo and whatever else I will need for that trip, I usually carry a plastic bag for empty brass.
