FN is developing the most advance firearms in the world right now.

Then they do a solid by bringing them to the civi market after a little twisting.  They do cost alittle more, but these are guns built on the same machines that the .mil stuff is made on.  Put in the same anodizing tanks and chrome lining lines.  The barrel are made on the same machine the m240 barrels are. They don't even do insane markups on thier FN/FNX pistols

Then they do another solid by offering the best customer service out there and offering factory tours if you are a veteran or make a appointment.

Notice that there is gnashing of teeth about FN like thier is about H&K or Colt.

Being an FN fanboy means a great company that loves your money back and wants to earn it.

Save up and buy the gun if you like it.  FN qulaity is worth it.

It's rumored that Caracal has one in the works. Other than that, I believe FN is your only option for a traditional form factor pistol.

Are you talking about rifles or pistols?  They have no market share, that's why you don't hear complaints about them.

I'm sure they make nice weapons (my only experience was my issued M16), but that statement is a bit of a red herring.

Hi-Power, FS2000, PS90, SCAR 16S, FN SCAR 17, FNP/X, SLP, TPS, PBR, SPR, Five Seven.

Yup, no presence at all (excluding the ownership of Winchester and Browning, of course).

Yeah, and compare those weapons to how prolific the AR or AK platforms are.  For pistols, compare it to Glock, S&W, Sig, etc.

My point stands, they are not very common which is why you won't hear very many complaints about them.

Agreed, I try to stay out of these arguments because I'm an FN fanboy but anyone who thinks FN isn't as reliable/accurate/rugged from factory as Glock/HK/Sig is clearly has no first hand experience with them.   I've had plenty of FTF/FTE/malfunctions with my 2 Glocks and not a single one with my 3 FN handguns or 2 rifles (which are what I primarily shoot/exclusively CCW).  My biggest complaint is aftermarket accessories.  I'm working on getting a threaded barrel for my FNP now.

I don't know what planet you live on, but in MY world, FN pistols are virtually non-existent.

I live in a city of about 2 million and I have yet to see a FN pistol in a gun shop in town here.  I have yet to see one at the range or at an IDPA match.  I didn't see one in the only formal training course I took.  I have seen PLENTY of Colts and HKs, though.

ETA: For FY09, FN manufactured 17,530 pistols to Colt's 24,693.  I could only find data for HK's .45ACP models, but they made 5,840 of those alone.

Wrong.

That number only includes FNP pistols made by the FNMI branch in Columbia, SC. The Five-seveN is manufactured in Belgium and easily doubles that number; then there are the U.S.-made rifles (SPR, TSR), the recently added U.S.-made FNX pistols, the Belgian-made rifles (FNAR, SCAR 16S, SCAR 17S, PS90, FS2000), and the Belgian-made shotguns.

Okay then, what was your point?  That FN hasn't moved as many units as Glocks?  Why even post that unless you want to argue about FN firearms?  I'm pretty sure everyone is aware of that.  Anyhow, I was merely agreeing with Sinnerman_ that FN's have few problems.  At least mine do.  You've already admitted that you have zero experience with them so how would you know that they have as many issues as Glock/HK/Sig?

I assume you're talking about Las Vegas.

New Frontier had a few FN pistols when I was in there this afternoon. I even finger-fucked an FNP-45 Tactical Bi-Tone. They had 2 5-7 pistols and a few FNP-9s too.

My point was that the statement was misleading.  I don't want to argue about FN pistols, in fact I would love to try some out.  And you clearly have reading comprehension problems because there was no statement either explicit or implicit regarding the reliability of said firearms.

Thanks, I'll have to go check them out.    I think that's the one place that I haven't been.  I live about as far south as you can possibly go in town so I don't head up there too often.

I found the numbers you quoted at atf.gov, which lists the numbers as being specifically for the pistols made by the FN Manufacturing, LLC branch in Columbia, SC (which was only manufacturing FNP pistols at that date). The Five-seveN number I mentioned (over 20k / year) came from a correspondence with FNH USA, and that was actually prior to the widespread media attention the pistol received following the Fort Hood shooting.
