I traded for a Glock 21SF last weekend, and I'm so taken with it I'm considering another one.  Is there a general agreement on any particular .45 load in 230 grain that might be best for this set up?  I know some calibers forwards and backwards, but I'm a newbie at .45.   Thanks

.45ACP

Barnes XPB/TAC-XP 185gr HP loaded by:

Cor-Bon (DPX45185)

Taurus (TCB45ACP185HP)

Winchester Ranger-T 230gr JHP   (RA45T)

Winchester Ranger-T 230gr JHP +P   (RA45TP)

Federal Tactical 230gr JHP   (LE45T1)

Federal HST 230gr +P JHP   (P45HST1)

Federal HST 230gr JHP   (P45HST2)

Speer Gold Dot 230 gr JHP   (23966)

from here

federal HSTs are usually the best(in 9mm and 40, they are so I would guess 45 also).  Gold dot performs slightly better through auto glass typically because its bonded, but hst hold together VERY well for an unbonded bullet.

For what?

For plinking, I use Winchester bulk pack FMJ as my Gold standard (I did before I started reloading, anyways). It's accurate enough, reliable, and clean enough for plenty of shooting.

For carry, Federal HST, Winchester Ranger T's, and Speer Gold Dot all in the 230gr load are good to go.

I've got Gold Dot in 357Sig & 9mm-think I'll stick with that then.
