| when you get a dud round in a semi automatic pistol, do you think in a life and death situation it would be better to cock the hammer again to strike it another time or just get rid of the dud cartridge? |

Unless of course it's your last round, then you might as well give it a try. On the plus side, center fire duds seem to be pretty uncommon. I haven't fired 100K center fire rounds in my lifetime yet most likely, but I've certainly fired tens of thousands, and if I could remember them all, I could probably count the number of duds I've had with the fingers of one hand, and still have a few fingers left over. I posted that topic a month or two ago with a poll, asking people how many duds they've experienced. Most experiences were similar to mine. |

When you get a click instead of a bang, you perform an immediate action drill, a tap-rack-bang. |

It's scary to see how many people stop and stare at their weapon after they hear the click. |

| i try to use manipulations that are consistant with as many different many types of firearms as possible. I shoot either an xd or a glock 19, neither have a second strike capability, and even if they did i would do a tap rack and get back in the fight. just like i do with all other semi auto handguns. |

I have the orange Safety Rounds. When I shoot, I take them with me and I will lay out loaded rounds with the safety rounds mixed in. Then I will close my eyes and load up several mags to practice my malfunction or "Tap, Rack, Bang" drills.
It's something I try to do every or every other time I shoot. |
