I was wondering wich Glock 17 you guys prefer and why. The 2nd  or 3rd generation? Which one feels better to the majority of people?

The original, GEN 1.

added: Cost $279 in 1986, thinner grip and very weak slide lock spring, makin for very fast tactical reloads as ya never have to touch the slide-release, just ram the new mag home and she automatically strips and loads the next round, (just one of the known quirks of the original G17) .

I just picked up a G17 to keep my G19 company.  I bought a brand new, made last month, 3rd Gen for $484.  The price of a new one isn't much more than a price of a used on and with the 3rd gen you get a light rail.

I love the Gen one.
But the best one is the one in your hand when you need it.

I have a Gen2 G17 that I'm very happy with and it's been 100% reliable with everything I've fed it. That said I wish mine had the finger grooves and light rail of the Gen3. I'm using a Hogue slip on to replicate the finger grooves but I'm SOL on the light rail.

Now if you are talking about G19's, the Gen2 is the way to go because of the barrel issue with the Gen3's

My 3rd Gen Glock 19 and 26 also do that.

I like the Glock 21 w/ hicap mags.
