After having the trigger reworked etc, I still cant shoot for poop with my .45 plastic fantastic.  I love it as it is a dead reliable field gun, and I can hit "in the house/in the yard" type stuff.  But I am trying to break in to practical shooting so it's decision time.

Choice #1 is to just keep working with the G21.

Choice #2 my wife is wanting me to replace her Mod 66 .357 with a 9mm.  I'm looking at the compact CZ series.

Choice #3 we have a fun show next week and I am thinking of taking the GLock in to see about a trade for a 1911 type.  I can only have one of caliber (money constraints and I'm allready shopping for a couple of different guns).  I allways shot 1911s well in the Army.

As for choice #3...

What should I look for? Kimber vs SA vs Colt.... what are the advantages/ liabilities of each?  How much should I expect to see them for used?  What kind of user mods would make them a better practical shooting gun, while staying a good field piece?

What shjould a good used G21 bring?

Any other choices?

Thanks

I don't know what the problem is with your G21 but I shoot preety darn good with mine.  As far as price on a used one goes, if it is a preban with hi cap mags I've seen them for close to the $500 mark.  If you shopping for a 1911 type, I'd go with a Kimber if you have the extra money (around $800 for a start) or stick with a SA for not much more $ than you would get for the G21.

If you shot 1911s well in the Army you may want to go back to them.  Shot whatever suits you best.  You should be able to get at least $450 for you G21.
