Well I'm going through my weekly "I'd sure like another gun... I think I'll look at that one" phase and I've liked Hi-Power's in the past and I think I might want one.

But that's not my question.

This is mainly a price question.

What's the going rate on Mk IIIs NIB? Seems like 800-900 is acceptable (with a $999 MSRP).

That being said, I've read some folks don't like the Mk IIIs as much as the older models.

I imagine I'd be saving some coin to buy used, so what is the big difference?

Now to find a store that actually has some... not a too common find for me...

I believe the Mk IIIs are the strongest version of the Hi Power with better modern type sights and larger ambi safties...older models have smaller sights and may have a ring or spur type hammer but may be more pleasing to the eye (beautiful rich blue on those models) and may have been assembled as well as made in Belgium instead of assembled from Belgian made parts in Portugal (still high quality)...the older one's have all that history to them that some prefer...nice used models are not so much under the new prices but may have had some of the work done that some feel is needed for total happiness...

Thanks.

I saw Camp's site listed in other threads on this board and browsed over it last night. He answered most of my questions as far as differences and I have to say I'm certainly leaning toward a Mk III standard.

Like I said, main thing I'm looking for is pricing so I know how much to put back each month. Is around $800 pretty normal for a NIB Mk III?

unfortunately that is a decent price for new Mk III...I only recently got into owning Hi Powers (been a fan for over 30 years) and was surprised by the recent (last year plus) surge in pricing...

I generally price-compare with Bud's.  Keep in mind that their prices are delivered, no extra for shipping, no sales tax.  Add whatever your local FFL charges for a transfer, that's what you pay.

I bought a Browning Hi Power from Bud's last year.  Bright blue, wood grips, I think it's called the "Vigilante" or "Standard".  I have also bought a few other guns from them over the last few years.  Overall I've been extremely pleased with them.

Thanks.

Those are basically the same prices I'm seeing on Gunbroker (which is surprising to me... GB is almost always high on stuff).

Saw a post on a message board from a few years ago that said CDNN had some.

Might have to check with my guy with connections to the CDNN folks and see what they have.

Time to start putting money back every two weeks...

New one's are that much now? Dang....................

Wasn't the usual NIB price around $600 for years?
