i just saw another thread on a 1910 and got me wondering. do all the pistols that were imported into the US have browning grips? i have seen the same pistols with FN grips...does this mean they were not imported by browning? also how do you get the year it was made without calling the company? is there a number in the serial # to tell the year manufactured or any other information? |

Browning began importing the 1910 to the US as the Model 1955 in '55. Dates can be found here: www.browning.com/services/dategun/detail.asp?id=37 Any pistol with FN grips and only marked FN on the slide is a pre-'55 import. Remember, before '68, import marks weren't required. The proof marks on a FN marked '10 would probably give a hint as to when it was made. |
thanks for the info. what i saw was definately pre-55 then. the serial number was actually under 100,000. the dates in the link were what i was looking for although they dont go back near far enough. is there a site somewhere that identifies what each proof mark is? btw, the 1910 was a .32 not .380. |

Here is a list of controllers marks: handgunsandammo.proboards36.com/index.cgi?board=hipowerfaqs&action=display&thread=1192394453 As you can see, this doesn't pin-point the manufacturing date, but should give you a decent window. I'm sure there is a FN Collector site out there that will tell you everything you need to know, but I haven't found it yet. |
